Not surprising you're tired with that iron/ferritin! What is your doctor doing about that?

Your B12 and folate are much too low - are you supplementing with sublingual methylcobalamin and a good B complex?

Vit D much too low.

And, you're under-medicated to have a TSH that high. Should be 1 or under.

So, all in all, not surprising you have symptoms. You must feel terrible!

Might be a good idea to get FT4 and FT3 tested privately to see what they're doing and how well you're converting. :)

hi thanks for the reply ,

My tsh has come down last few weeks as it was nearing 5

I did get these blood tests privately as I was getting wegovy/ozempic so the dr gave me these bloods I will get a better thyroid one in a few weeks

Funny thing is I actually supplement all these vitamins so don’t know why they’re so low. I am constantly hungry that’s why I got the wegovy. I also walk every day in the sunshine to get vitd and I supplement so quite confused, the dr has given me a prescription for iron that’s it 😨

But do you always have your blood draw at the same time of day - i.e. before 9 am?

I am constantly hungry that’s why I got the wegovy.

Probably because you are so deficient in nutrients. The body thinks you need to eat more.

And I really don't think wegovy is a good idea because hypo weight-gain is rarely to do with over-eating. It's to do with low metabolism and water-retention. And, if the wegovy cuts your appetite and you eat less, that is probably not going to make you lose weight, but will reduce your nutrient levels even further, and could also adversely affect your conversion of T4 to T3, meaning you become more hypo and put on even more weight. And that's not even taking into account the problems attached to wegovy itself.

Funny thing is I actually supplement all these vitamins so don’t know why they’re so low.

Probably because you have low stomach acid - most hypos do - and therefore do not absorb very well.

I also walk every day in the sunshine to get vit D

Well, that's not going to work! We have people on here who live in hot countries like Australia and Greece, and are still vit D deficient. It's a bit of a myth that you can get all the vit D you need from the sun.

Make sure you take your iron at least 4 hours away from thyroid hormone, and that you take some vit C with it, to help absorption. :)

Looking at previous posts

You have Hashimoto’s

Are you on strictly gluten free diet and/or dairy free diet

If not get coeliac blood test BEFORE trialing strictly gluten free diet- as per NICE guidelines

Vitamin levels are terrible

EXACTLY what vitamin supplements are you taking

Aiming for

Vitamin D at least over 80nmol

B12 over 500

Folic acid over 20

Ferritin and iron are terrible

Ferritin at least over 70

Low B12 symptoms

With serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a separate B12 supplement

A week later add a separate vitamin B Complex

Then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), you may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week

Low folate

supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid)

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Igennus B complex popular option. Nice small tablets. Most people only find they need one per day. But a few people find it’s not high enough dose

Post discussing different B complex

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule) Thorne can be difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12

How much vitamin D are you taking

GP should advise on self supplementing if over 50nmol, but under 75nmol (but they rarely do)

mm.wirral.nhs.uk/document_u...

But with Hashimoto’s, improving to around 80nmol or 100nmol by self supplementing may be better

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Test twice yearly when supplementing
