Faye1985 Your doctor needs shooting! No way are those results right but he seems to be sticking to the guidelines of not diagnosing until TSH reaches 10.
Your TSH has risen - indicative that your thyroid is struggling. Your FT4 is very low in range. The two together should be telling this idiot that you are well on your way to hypothyroidism. He should be testing you again in a few weeks not 12 months time.
A quick squint through your previous post and I see you mention that you've had your antibodies checked and that you can feel a lump at the bottom of your neck.
Tell your GP that you've previously been told you have a lot of antibodies and that considering your over range TSH and very low FT4 would he please arrange for Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies plus Thyroglobulin antibodies to be tested. If they come back positive, which they probably will after you've already been told you have a lot, then that is a diagnosis of autoimmune thyroiditis, aka Hashimot's disease. The antibodies will fluctuate, as will your symptoms and test results as and when the antibodies attack. Eventually your thyroid will be destroyed and you will have full blown hypothyroidism. But with those results, even though TSH is below their magic number 10, you could probably do with starting levothyroxine now.
I went back to the doctors this morning and she can feel a lump in my neck too, she booked me in for a ultrasound scan but still said i dont need my bloods repeated for another year. I feel like because this is all new to me that as soon as i mentioned the internet she rolled her eyes at me. I also mentioned that we have been planing on trying for another baby very soon and that my TSH levels were too high acording to the NICE guidelines she said when I fall pregnant that I'd start levothyroxine then or when my T4 is lower than 10 whichever comes first. I don't feel comfortable trying to fall pregnant with my thyriod levels low and tsh levels high. After I've had the scan I'll go back and asked for another blood test and the antibodies test
Faye1985 Doctors don't like us telling them we've looked things up on the internet. You could tell her that you have been on the NHS Choices website and their preferred source of information is Thyroid UK and so you followed that advice.
I don't know much about pregnancy and thyroid although I'm sure there are a couple of members here who've been in your situation and there are some posts about it. I can also tell you that my daughter-in-law suffered multiple miscarriages in between successful pregnancies. Her GP referred her to hospital and she was diagnosed as having epilepsy. All along I told her it was her thyroid. She refused the epilepsy meds and had a private appointment (Dr Myhill) and was promptly diagnosed hypo. GP didn't accept this until, after another miscarriage and blood tests, the hospital wrote in her notes "Thyroid test results acceptable for someone on thyroid replacement". Her GP then said "I suppose I'd better accept the diagnosis then and prescribe your levothyroxine on the NHS". A long-winded and very, very wrong way of getting diagnosed.
If you don't think you will get anywhere with your GP, I urge you to get a private blood test done through Blue Horizon - go to ThyroidUK's main website testing page - thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin... and go to the first link - 'postal kits sent nationwide'. Get a Thyroid Plus Ten or Plus Eleven test done and that will give you all you need to know about your thyroid, including both antibodies, plus vitamins and minerals too. They're both fingerprick tests you can easily do at home and the results are emailed to you two or three days later. If you do that, post results on here in a new post, members can suggest where you go from there.
Because this is all so familiar to me, and I have four grandbabies including twins who didn't take breath, I am so cross and upset on your behalf
Thank you I'll definitely order them of I get dont get anywhere with my GP. I'm sorry your family have been through such a hard time trying to get a diagnosis for your daughter in law xx
In real life - as opposed to endo-fairy land - you are hypo when your TSH hits 3! Tell your doctor, she wouldn't be so happy with these results if they were hers.
Hidden if you would like advice on your results, best to start your own thread. Members will be happy to help I am sure. Mention any meds you are on too.
