Today I had my appointment with the GP to review my Levothyroxine. He introduced himself as the GP that I am registered with not the one I was told I would see. He is Indian and even using the microphone that bluetooths directly into my hearing aids he was very difficult to understand. Several times I had to remind him to talk to me not the computer screen.
We went through my fairly recent history and I told him that my TSH has been suppressed since before I went onto Liothyronine. He had the Endocrinologist's letter up and we talked about the fact that I am on the amount of Levothyroxine that is talked about in that letter. He said that he would write to the Endocrinologist for advice( see letter below). I told him that if there was a recommendation to change my dose that I would want a referral for a second opinion before I would agree to a reduction of dose.
History: Dear Consultant,
Thank you for your advice regarding this lady and her thyroid function tests.
She has been on Levothyroxine 100micrograms 7 days a week and additional 50 micrograms 5 days a week.
She is also taking Liothyronine 20 micrograms in morning and 5 micrograms at 1800.
Her last couple of blood tests are similar- TSH < 0.005 and T3 and T4 in normal range.
Her TSH has been suppressed since 2019 when she was started on Liothyronine.
She is not describing any hyperthyroid symptoms. She feels this regimen suits her.
I would be grateful for your advice.
I also asked for an iron panel to be done due to my low ferritin and that blood test is being done on Friday morning.
