do I need to stop Biotin containing supplements before a Blue Horizon iron status profile test?

I am testing my iron after very low ferritin results on a thyroid plus vitamins test ( I am seeing a Dr at private online clinic from the Thyroid UK list)

In the past II had normal/high iron, so before I supplement I want to check all the iron indicators

my question is: do I need to stop my b complex 7 days before Iron tests, as I do with my thryroid tests ?

you could ask Blue Horizon

Biotin is used in lots of different tests

If you do need to stop B complex take a separate B12 and methyl folate instead that week

Biotin should be stopped at least a week prior to any thyroid tests. It interferes with the results.

thank you however I’m not testing thyroid only iron. I wasn’t sure if same rules apply

In general, you can't know without asking, I'm afraid. Obviously, you might be able to identify the manufacturer and check their information, but you are likely to hit a brick wall at some point.

thank you I’ve taken the precaution of stopping for 7 days anyway as I need to take the test on 2 January and they are closed over Xmas
