Do I need to stop taking supplements like multi vits etc. before going for blood tests

I am wanting to have VitD, B12, Iron, Ferritin. But take a few vitamins so wanted to know if i need to stop these before having the blood tests? and if so for how long before?

Stupid question, but are these the things you are being tested for?

Also, just checking that if you take levo you leave 4 hours before taking your iron..?

Yes i am wanting to get my doctor to test for these. But i didnt know if i needed to stop taking supplements before they do the blood tests as i wasnt sure if it affected the result or not.

It is always better to have your vitamins tested before you supplement anything yourself as this will now give your GP a false reading. If the vitamins you are taking contain either iron or calcium then your should be keeping them, at least, four hours away from your levo (I think this is what Louise was asking you).

If this was me I would stop taking the vitamins for about a month before having bloods done but results that may have been low may now be just in range as you have been supplementing but at least you will know what to concentrate on.
