Thyroid symptoms or Parkinsons, an update to my previous post

A huge thank you to all the people who gave me such good advice!

My FT3 is slightly up and my FT4 is slighty down, result! Going in the right direction.

My Vitamin D is improving, I will continue to use BetterYou sublingual sprays (D3+K2) for this, and magnesium.

My Vitamin B12 hasn't moved much, I use a B12 complex daily (Liposomal Vitamin B Complex Softgels suggested here) and have recently added a BetterYou B12 spray in hopes it will help.

I still have muscle weakness and pain, and I am struggling with this, I'm shaky sometimes. But mentally I am much improved, with less anxiety.

September and November results below.

All tests done fasted and bloods taken 9am.

A copy of my results over the last few years, hoping its big enough to be read OK.

Your folate remains low

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12

if folate is still low after this ….consider adding a separate folate 2-3 times a week as well as daily vitamin B complex

Like many thousands of thyroid patients you are likely to benefit from slight reduction in Levo and addition of small dose of T3 prescribed alongside

Thank you! I did wonder about T3 despite the difficulty in getting it prescribed. I will broach this with my doctor when I manage to get an appointment. I have the list of sympathetic endocrinologists, will check for a north west area one.

GP will no doubt deny anyone gets Liothyronine on NHS

Here’s evidence that they do

Over 64,000 prescriptions in England in last year

Typically 6 prescriptions per person per year

openprescribing.net/analyse...

Initially has to be prescribed via endo

Ideally choose an endocrinologist to see privately initially and who also does NHS consultations

Wait on NHS is at least a year

I will check out those links. I believe I have to stop taking B12 complex, with biotin, after 4 months in case of toxicity, so I’ll do as suggested in your previous reply for a couple of months before restarting complex.

You only need to stop vitamin B complex a week before any blood tests because biotin in B complex may affect lab test equipment (many tests use biotin in test equipment)

In that week you stop vitamin B complex take a separate Methyl folate instead

Many thyroid patients find they need to supplement vitamin D, magnesium and vitamin B complex daily to maintain good levels
