Genuine NDT source please

I'm starting again slightly differently 🤭

Could people please pm me with their trusted sources of genuine NDT please?

Usual story - I've had several clueless GPs, cant get a referral for love nor money as my results don't warrant it, tsh only of course because symptoms are put down to stress and a busy lifestyle and medichecks aren't accurate because they aren't NHS. I'm trying to pay for a divorce so private is not an option. I need some sort of quality of life. Arghhhhh!

I realise T3 may be better but then again it might not, its trial and error and I'll look at that if NDT isn't for me.

For info last months medichecks which were done 'properly' were

Free t3 3.28

Free thyroxine 12.4

Tsh 1.4 (I feel good when it's about 0.01 and suppressed)

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies 376

Thyroglobulin antibodies 273

Ferritin 166

Folate serum 8.48

B12 130.2

Vit D 164

CRP HS 3.81

So my thyroid needs a little tlc

Thankyou

You're obviously wise to the possibility of being scammed, but please read this post anyway if you haven't already done so healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

I'll leave your post open for now so that others can comment on your test results.

Thankyou, I've had a read earlier. I'll definitely be doing my research, more than I've done already, into whereabouts I purchase from.

Hello again !!

Can you please add the ranges to the above - use the edit button under ' More - below -

you don't need to disappear again ;

Did you fast overnight and leave around a 24 hour window from your last dose of T4 and take your daily T4 dose after an early morning blood test and stop all supplements around 7 days beforehand ?

We often feel better when with a much lower TSH even suppressed - join the club.

Your antibodies are indicative of dealing with an Auto Immune thyroid disease health issue - Hashimoto's. Many forum members follow the research and suggestions of Dr Izabella Wentz - thyroidpharmacist.com

We generally feel best when our T4 is up in the top quadrant of it's range as this should then convert to a decent level of T3 at around a 1/4 ratio T3/T4.

It would appear with a T4 at just 12.40 you are barely in the Medicheck range - and your body really struggling on such a low T3 - it may just be with gradually increases in T4 - up into / towards the top quadrant of the range you will feel very much better than where you are now -

How much Levothyroxine are you taking - could there be absorption issues - as this is common with Hashimoto's and healing the gut the first big stepping stone to achieve ?

Once your T4 is increased your TSH will lower - and we should all be dosed and monitored on our T3 and T4 readings and not a TSH seen in isolation but fully understand the problem in primary and why forum members are forced to go private if they want some actual resolve to their health issues.

T4 - Levothyroxine is basically inert and a storage hormone and needs to be converted in the body into T3 the active hormone that runs all your bodily functions from the physical through to your mental, emotional, psychological and spiritual well being, your inner central heating system and your metabolism.

Conversion of the T4 into T3 in your body can be compromised by several factors -

some more easily fixed than others -

We need optimally maintained levels of ferritin, folate, B 12 and vitamin D -

I now aim on Medchecks ranges for a ferritin at around 100 : folate around 20 : active B12 75 ++ ( serum B12 500 ++ ) and vitamin D around 100 .

Conversion can also be compromised by any physiological stress ( emotional or physical ) inflammation, dieting, depression, and ageing.

Your Crp is an inflammation marker and a bit high by most ranges - this in turn can have influenced your ferritin reading ?

Are you taking any supplements ?

I follow an anti- inflammatory diet most of the time, obviously do have a few nice things now and again to get some joy in my life 🤣 and have the majority of izabella wentz's books, rather well thumbed.

I'm currently on 150mcg of levo, but my gp tends to panic and lower it 125 after a blood test, I feel more terrible and my blood results gey worse so she raises it, I feel slightly less terrible. We've now agreed to give up on that game and keep me on 150. But because on NHS blood tests my tsh tends to be 0.01-0.03 on 150 she will not agree to trialling a slightly higher dose to see if things improve.

I would think to be on 150 mcg T4 daily and have a T4 reading at around 3% through a range - there is an absorption issue - what about trying liquid T4 ?

Were you checked for celiac ?

Morbidmoggy profile image
Morbidmoggy• in reply topennyannie

Definitely not a coeliac, I've had a full gastric MOT recently. There is very little gluten in my diet, I also tend to avoid dairy as it tastes disgustingapart from cheese,

pennyannie• in reply toMorbidmoggy

So these results from your gastric MOT are fine - so what is the doctor's next suggestion ?

You need a referral to an endo and or a trial of liquid T4 surely ?

Free t3 3.28

Free thyroxine 12.4

Tsh 1.4 (I feel good when it's about 0.01 and suppressed)

These results show you are on inadequate dose levothyroxine

Adding T3 would be lot cheaper that NDT

You could use Roseway Labs patient prescription service. Cheaper than seeing endocrinologist

OK, so this pharmacy service will prescribe thyroid medication, but "Neither will she prescribe hormones". Sounds illogical to me.
