Latest bloods- advice please :)

Hi all,

My dad has had his levo increased several times last year by private endo. He was on 75mcg and the endo has increased it steadily that now he is on 125mg daily. His most recent bloods (done through medichecks, 9am before any food drink or levo)

TSH X 0.21 mIU/L (Range: 0.27 - 4.2)

Free T3 5.2 pmol/L (Range: 3.1 - 6.8)

Free Thyroxine 19.7 pmol/L (Range: 12 - 22)

Vitamin D 65 nmol/L (50-250)

Folate - Serum >45 nmol/L (Range: 8.83 - 60.8)

Vitamin B12 - Active >150 pmol/L (Range: 37.5 - 188)

Iron 14.6 umol/L (Range: 10 - 30)

TIBC 68 umol/L (Range: 45 - 81)

UIBC X 53.6 umol/L (Range: 12 - 43)

Transferrin Saturation X 21 % (Range: 25 - 45)

Ferritin 63 ug/L (Range: 30 - 650)

Any thoughts would be much appreciated

Will be having follow up with endo in month or so

Hurrah for your private Endo. How does Dad feel now?

Free T4 (fT4) 19.7 pmol/L (12 - 22) 77.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 5.2 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 56.8%

There's still room for a small increase according to frees but that push his TSH over.

Best fine tune the vitamins. Vit D should be around 100. Use this calc to work out how much D to take along with K2. grassrootshealth.net/projec...

His ferritin is on the low side so try eating chicken liver or pate a few times a week. Wash it down with some orange juice.

What vitamin supplements does your Dad take

Vitamin D too low

Ferritin too low

Low transferrin saturation suggests he’s anaemic

Is he vegetarian or vegan?

Vitamin levels need to be OPTIMAL for good conversion of Ft4 to Ft3

Does he always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

Approx how much does he weigh in kilo

Most importantly…..how does he feel?
