Shall I stop B12 now?

I am finally feeling much better than I have in a long time, so thanks everyone for your posts and advice that i have been reading for a long time now. I've started Iron (ferrous sulphate) since 11 October, prescription was for 3/4 months so i assume it takes a long time to build up? Also added a lot more meat to my diet.

I take a sublingual B12 and a B-Complex (was Thorne Basic B now a Methyl-b complex from amazon as a stop gap as haven't been able to get Thorne for a while).

Is there any way to increase Folate anymore than taking the b-complex.

Vit D spray 4000.

I'm going away over xmas and new year and trying to figure out if i should take all my supplements with me. B complex and Iron, i think yes. Do I need to continue with B12 on it's own now my levels have improved?

Thanks in advance.

[Medichecks test, take before 9am, empty stomach, no levothyroxine, no biotin for one week before]

I'm on 75mcg/ 100mcg levothyroxine alternate days.

TSH: 1.01 (0.27-4.2)

Free T3: 4.1 (3.1-6.8)

Free T4: 17.2 (12- 22)

IHerb have Thorne available at good price

In week before blood test when you stopped vitamin B complex did you take separate methyl folate supplement and separate B12 supplement?

If not folate level drops rapidly when you stop vitamin B complex

Ferritin needs improving to at least around 70

Are you increasing iron rich foods in your diet

FT4: 17.2 pmol/l (Range 12 - 22)

Ft4 is only 52.00% through range

FT3: 4.1 pmol/l (Range 3.1 - 6.8)

Ft3 is only 27.03% through range

Shows inadequate dose levothyroxine and poor conversion rate

Request increase in dose levothyroxine to 100mcg per day

Meanwhile continue working on improving low vitamin levels

to be fair I didn’t realise that I would need to take a separate folate supplement so only continued with the B12.

Back to my original question is my B12 adequate enough to not need the sublingual tablet?

Thanks for advice re thyroid levels. I do feel good so I’m hesitate to req a change again; GP agreed to put me on 100mcg for two months and I didn’t feel particularly great. The consultant endocrinologist said I was slightly over replaced and asked GP to reduce dose slightly so here we are…

so you were taking vitamin B complex ….and when stopped week before blood test you only took a B12

Suggest you try just taking vitamin B complex see how that goes

Most people after initially improving B12 with separate B12 supplement can then maintain good levels just taking a daily vitamin B complex

Unless vegetarian or vegan…..then likely to need ongoing separate B12 at least 2-3 days week

you could experiment with increase in levothyroxine by 25mcg one day extra per week

Marmite is high in folic acid. Not sure about the bioavailability.
