just had these test results back from Christies. Struggling to get the others.

TSH 1.06 (0.55 - 4.78)

FT4 14.1 (10 - 22)

FT3 4 .4 ( 3.5 - 6.5)

I'm on 100mcg thyroxine and 5mcg t3

They said they are OK,but I have doubts. I can't tell you the ones before because I'm struggling to get hold of them.

Thanks in advance

There’s nothing on your profile

Are you male or female and approx age

Was test done as recommended. Early morning, ideally around 9am, last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test. Did you split T3 into 2 smaller doses….Last 2.5mcg dose T3 approx 8-12 hours before test

Always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription?

Do you have autoimmune thyroid disease, also called Hashimoto’s usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

I'm 59, female, tests done as they should be.

I haven't got a thyroid, wa removed 1988. I was self medicating with t3 only until I went to Christies in May and the talked me into trying t4 and t3 together.

I'm not taking any vits at the moment. The vit d, foliate, ferritin and b12 where done in June but unable to get the results at the moment, I'm back at Christies in two weeks.

FT4: 14.1 pmol/l (Range 10 - 22) 34.17%

FT3: 4.4 pmol/l (Range 3.5 - 6.5) 30.00%

Looking at your free results you are undermedicated, so your results are not OK. Probably whoever checked the results was looking at TSH. Both of those results need to be higher.

It is important to get vitamins tested as low levels are common and they contribute to symptoms and how your body uses thyroid hormone.

thanks

, I have had them tested, but getting the results is hard. I will ask again for the results in two weeks.

Download and register for the NHS app. Then ask GP receptionist to get you permission to view your results online. Then you will be able to see all your results when they come in on your phone.

You probably need at least 2 dose increases, perhaps start with 5mcg T3. It is expected when taking T3 that your TSH will get suppressed when optimally treated.

Thsnks. I am already on 5mcg twice a day total of 10. I probably didn't explain very well.

my test don't come from my gp, they come from Christies hospital manchester. My gp can't see them.

When on combination Levo plus T3, some people are fine with a low FT4 as low as FT3 is in the upper part of it's range, some of us need FT4 and FT3 better balanced and over half way through range. This is something you need to find yourself, only you will know and, of course, if your doctor is adjusting dose just by looking at TSH you wont get very far because taking T3 is going to lower your TSH, possibly even suppress it.

As you were on T3 only before to suddenly go to just 5mcg T3 with the Levo has probably made your FT3 plummet and it will be a case of gradually building up the dose of T3 to get you to your sweet spot. It's obvious that you are undermedicated and it's possible that the first step is to increase your T3 dose to 10mcg daily and see where that takes you. You may need to tweak doses of both but only do one at a time and wait 6-8 weeks between each dose change and testing as you need time for your levels to settle before deciding on the next step.

thanks for the reply. I will put up the t3 first.

I am already on 10 split into two doses, one am and one pm. Its impossible to take any in the middle of the day. So I will adjust both So they are even and test again in 8 weeks, I will do a private one.
