Which blood tests should I ask for?

Hi everyone,

I need to have blood tests for Thyroid and coeliac disease from GP (ordered thyroid panel from monitor my health too.. as they won’t test FT3).

Im on a tiny 50mcg dose and my pre-medication results were

TSH 5.62 (0.2-4.2)

FT4 - 44%

FT3 - 38%

Based that I fell s%#T what other values would be useful?

Me thinks:

- Folate (previously deficient)

- Ferritin (previously deficient)

- Vitamin D (previously deficient)

- B12? - usually always at 800-900 (so over range or just within)

Anything else ?

P.S. I’ve done these tests before but they are all out of date as my most recent results are from September/October 2021

Have you had antibodies tested? How many times?

I’ve had them tested 3 times or so.Every time the GP tested them they were negative (but present).

When I tested them using BlueHorizon antiTG were positive. Couldn’t duplicate it in GP test unfortunately 🫤

Looking at profile

You already know you have Hashimoto’s and PCOS

Book thyroid test early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Are you always taking Teva brand?

Are you lactose intolerant and on dairy free diet that you are taking Teva

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Remember to stop taking any vitamin supplements that contain biotin a week before ALL blood tests as biotin can falsely affect test results

Request GP test folate, ferritin and vitamin D

They usually won’t test vitamin D more than once every 2 years

Ive booked a test for 8am, now I have an issue though…I have started taking my Levo between 1-3am and found it works quite well. so should I take skip the night before?

But this technically would mean my last dose would be 30ish hrs ago.. is that ok?

I take Teva because that’s what my pharmacy gave me and I stuck to it no other reason, not lactose intolerant…

I’m mostly supplementing Myo-Inositl and Dchiro, some Berberine, vitamin D and 5mg folic acid (and vit C!)

No biotin ..

If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test

If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal

Come back with new post once you get results
