Results Help

Hi, I'm looking at my results and would like a bit of help in working out what might be the right direction to follow. I am currently taking 125mg and will need to go for another GP blood text in the next couple of weeks. Currently I normally don't sleep well, waking up during the night either being freezing cold or really hot. by mid afternoon I just want to sleep and find it difficult to motivate myself into anything. This winter has been terrible as I haven't wanted to leave the house as I'm so cold, even my husband has commented on it. So would just like some help in understanding what I might do next. My food is good and currently follow a Mediterranean style diet.

Thyroid Hormones

TSH 1.31 mIU/L (Range: 0.27 - 4.2)

Free T3 3.1 pmol/L (Range: 3.1 - 6.8)

Free Thyroxine 16.1 pmol/l (Range: 12 - 22)

Vitamins

Folate - Serum 10.0 ug/L (Range: > 2.9) - If no change in dietary habits, a normal serum folate makes folate deficiency unlikely.

Vitamin B12 - Active X >256.0 pmol/L (Range: 25.1 - 165)

Vitamin D 71 nmol/L (Range: 50 - 200)

Interpretation of results:

Deficient <25 nmol/L

Insufficient 25 - 49 nmol/L

Normal Range 50 - 200 nmol/L

Consider reducing dose >200 nmol/L

Iron Status

Iron 17.0 umol/L (Range: 6.6 - 26)

TIBC 61 umol/L (Range: 41 - 77)

Transferrin Saturation 28 % (Range: 20 - 55)

Ferritin 74 ug/L (Range: 13 - 150) Optimum Ferritin level for females : >27 ug/L

Thanks for your help.

Looking at previous posts were you taking T3?

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

If yes which brand

Was test done early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

FT4: 16.1 pmol/l (Range 12 - 22) 41.00%

Ft3 is 0% through range

So you are under medicated and terrible conversion

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Looking at previous posts

Your TPO antibodies were only just within range, so likely that cause of your hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease

Have you had coeliac blood test done

Are you on strictly gluten free diet or dairy free diet

Vitamin levels are pretty good

You’re going to need T3 prescribed alongside levothyroxine

Aiming for Ft3 at least 50-60% through range

Thank you for your replys SlowDragon.

Looking at previous posts were you taking T3? Yes I have had an Endo previously prescribe Natural Thyroid, but he has retired and I stopped take this.medication around April last year.

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

If yes which brand - accord for the 100mg and but the 25mg might vary currently Wockhardt UK Ltd

Was test done early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test - yes

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking - currently nit taking any supplements

Have you had coeliac blood test done - no, but can do if it would help.

Are you on strictly gluten free diet or dairy free diet - no, but I don't really eat bread, pasta and backed goods. But I do eat dairy.

You’re going to need T3 prescribed alongside levothyroxine - this is what I thought, but really looking to get confirmation.

Aiming for Ft3 at least 50-60% through range

Thank you for all your questions. It's helped me take the plunge and go back to book an Endo appointment privately. I have spoken to the GP about being low on the T3, and they referred me to a NHS Endo how just wrote back say it was all ok. Other than going privately I'm not sure what else to do.
