Hi everyone 💗

It's been a rather bad 18 months for me, regardless of covid in May 2020 I started to feel unwell again (total thyroidectomy in May 2019 due to graves thyrotoxicosis) started on T4 had conversion/ absorbtion issues ( colitis diagnosed 2015 lactose intolorent) endo eventually put me on T3 started low at 10mg and eventually built up to 35mg in 2020 my T3, TSH were now in a good range T3 at the top end TSH 0.80...t4 2 (it is ok as I'm on T3 medication) then in May 2020 I started to go on the loo a lot more especially through night, was very thirsty especially through night, started having palpitations again and was sweating again with insomnia and weakness in my limbs resting heartbeat of 133/147) was advised to go to A&E, doc in there said I was taking to much T3 medication, I said no my last bloods were well in range, anyway endo got involved and found out my calcium and parathyroid hormone were over range and said I probably have primary hyperparathyroidism, since then my last bloods for my thyroid the TSH has shot up to 19.6....i adjusted my T3 with a increase of 5mg now to 40mg (split in to 3, morning, afternoon, night.. My last TSH done in Aug this year was 15.12...with a normal T3 5.6..found this out after eventually getting my blood printouts (I've been seeing an endo in Hexham since sep this year related to the primary hyperparathyroidism illness) he as no interest in my thyroid results , I eventually got my thyroid bloods done on Monday 20th Dec (because of results of TSH being 15.12 in Aug this was due to me being in Hexham in sep then I developed a bad ear, nose and throat infection end of Oct, Nov surgery told me to stay away, its taken 7 weeks for the infection to ease but my ear and throat are still bad, and now on Dec 23rd I tested positive for covid🤒.. I recived a message from my surgery on the same day saying I would need to contact my surgery in relation to my latest blood work taken on December 20th for thyroid, so I can only assume there is something off with them again 🙄.. I feel awful obviously covid is not helping but its the other symptoms that are affecting me the most the ones I've had since around May 2020...palpitations, sweating, shaking, feeling of utter weakness, weeing for England drinking constantly can't quench my thirst, (I've been checked for diabetes its not that) but why as my TSH suddenly gone nuts when it was perfect at 0.80 and stayed steady until my calcium and parathyroid hormone went over range 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️does anyone know if there is a condition because I was doing great until this.. 🤦‍♀️

Hi birkie,

Apologies if this has already been suggested to you as I've not read through all your posts.

But have you been checked for Diabetes Insipidus? Its name is misleading as it isn't anything to do with diabetes but with you saying you can't quench your thirst and are drinking a lot of water it would be important to mention this to your endocrinologist.

I have a relative with this condition and had not heard of it before as it is quite rare. There's is caused by a problem with their pituitary gland. It has a number of causes but is not related to diabetes mellitus as the problem is not blood sugar related.

Considering standard dose if on JUST T3 only is 60mcg (as 3 x 20mcg per day) it’s likely you are still under medicated on just 40mcg

medicines.org.uk/emc/produc...

to the usual recommended daily dose of 60 micrograms in two or three divided doses.

bnf.nice.org.uk/drug/liothy...

increased to 60 micrograms daily in 2–3 divided doses, dose should be increased gradually, smaller initial doses given for the elderly.

**Added for clarification in June 2022~ The high TSH of 15.12 in August was probably due to missing at least 5 days of T3 around 15th august and then testing on he 23rd august.fT3 was already 6.6[3.1-6.8] in August test not 5.6 as stated in this post..... so Increasing the T3 dose from 25mcg at august test to 30 mcg as mentioned in previous post (Nov 18th ) and now to 40mcg as mentioned in this post was probably unnecessary ,
