What vitamin supplements are you currently

Ferritin is terrible. Likely to need iron supplements

See/contact GP for full iron panel test for anaemia

Are you vegetarian or vegan?

Vitamin D is too low

Folate and B12 might be better a little higher

What thyroid hormones are you currently taking

Just levothyroxine?

How much and always same brand?

Are you on strictly gluten free diet

Vitamin D & K2 3xsprays a day.

375mg magnesium

5000ug biotin (which I left off week prior to test)

100 mcg selenium

Currently 5 / 10 carbimazole alternating days. Was in totaling 55mg per week. Reduced it slightly to 45 and FT4 has risen from 15. Doctor want FT4 under 16 but I felt my FT3 was too low & having symptoms. The FT3 has hardly changed.

Not vegetarian or gluten free. Lost weight last year but has been slowly creeping up this year.

Sorry…..forgot you are on Carbimazole

Certainly improving low vitamin levels

Vitamins are too low, especially ferritin

Likely to need iron supplements

Read up many posts and replies by humanbean on low iron and ferritin

Suggest you increase vitamin D supplement to 5000iu

Rather than just taking biotin, a daily vitamin B complex

Trialing strictly gluten free always worth trying

Thank you, wasn’t sure how much to increase vitamin D. So this is helpful.

Hello there ;

Seems funny replying to you as it's as though the shoes now on the other foot !!

Your conversion is pretty much spot on at 1/4 - T3/T4 ;

Do you feel any better running your T4 a little higher ?

Is the endocrinologist being over cautious wanting to you keep your T4 at just around 40% .

Just for reference I now feel best when my ferritin is up at around 100 : folate at around 20 : active B12 75 + and vitamin D at 100 :

I would think if you can get your vitamin and minerals levels higher you may well see your your T4 reading a little closer to 16 with a corresponding increase in your T3. rather than having to reassess your AT medications.

Yes I know what you mean

I had some ideas (& advice for myself) but thought it might be wise to have others look at it with fresh eyes.

My conversion has always been 1:3 ever since being diagnosed. This is the first timed it’s been in the 1:4 realm.

This is also the highest % my FT4 has been since 2018 diagnosis.

Im not feeling great as having headaches and pulse rate up joint & muscle aches. Usually I can sense when I’m hypo vrs hyper end as when hypo I get clumsy, tearful, forgetful have heavier & earlier periods & lose appetite. Higher levels I eat uncontrollably, don’t think clearly & I apparently talk non stop. Right now I have a mixture of both.

The range the endo was using differs to medichecks so the aim - officially - is FT4 mid range & FT3 in range, but at mid range my FT3 could be too low.

This test was early morning, most previous tests are nearer lunchtime, some in evening as I usually have to arrange to travel to hospital for a blood draw appointment, as I’m very difficult to draw sample. So my FT4 should be lower in comparison, but instead it’s significantly higher. I’m now starting to think the FT4 is too high for me and the less than adequate nutrients are the issue.

The specialist discharged me in September and said I can go back to them once I was ready to undergo RAI. In meantime GP can monitor. Of course they logged the letter but made no arrangements whatsoever to schedule a test. I had to contact them several times and they eventually noted to test 3 monthly for 1 year, then test further apart. The next test is scheduled for 3 months from the date I chased them up about & not my last test so I won’t be having another check until January.

OK -

so it's good you have an idea of where your T3/T4 ratio needs to be, so many of us haven't.

Currently your metabolism is running too slow for you. and this may well be improved once you have built back up your ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D.

Building up your core strength has to be the first necessary step for your own well being and hopefully this will result in an increased metabolism through optimizing your core strength vitamins and minerals.

I know I felt a little better when my ferritin reached 45, and once I'd doubled that I was feeling so much better.

I couldn't tolerate the prescription iron tablets so purchased Solgar Gentle Iron though any product that is iron bisglycinate should be less harsh on the stomach and I also took to eating liver twice a week, and taking Spatone Liquid iron, but it does take time.

Once up to a decent level I find one little tub a week of Asda frozen chicken livers does the trick - I defrost and flash fry in a little olive oil and then whizz down into a pate and taking a spoonful a day helps this medicine go down especially with a dollop of Hellman's.

Hope this helps :
