Following on from the post below, and advice from SlowDragon and SeasideSusie , I have now been taking:
- 125mcg levo 6 days a week, 100mcg 1 day a week to give 121.4mcg avg a day
- 25mcg lio every day.
- upped my vitamin d to 5,000iu daily
- restarted thorne basic b 1 x daily
- did an Iron panel and it showed my serum iron was over range at 26.3 (Iron (6.6-26) umol/L) so I didn't restart iron tablets
- I have also been reading about the methylated b12 situation and I have started taking adenosyl/hydroxy B12 tablets to see whether I feel any more energetic on these than on the B12 I get in the vit B mix.
I still get very tired and still think I could feel better. At the start of taking more levo I wondered if I was feeling a bit hyper but the feelings disappeared after a few weeks. I feel like my body is capping itself at mid way through the range.
Clearly my vitamins need a bit of work. I think I will try and take 10,000iu vitamin D daily to get this up. My folate is low, is it worth me taking a separate folate supplement on top of the Thorne B vit?
And then should I just try taking 125mcg levo daily? Or will this be too small a change to see anything before re-testing?
What has happened between your March Medichecks results and now, all your nutrient levels are lower.
restarted thorne basic b 1 x daily
How long since you restarted the Thorne Basic B?

ActiveB12: 122
I'm not sure that you need a separate B12, that is a good result for Active B12 and the amount in the Thorne Basic B (400mcg) should maintain it. If anything I'd go to 2 x Thorne Basic B as a first step because your folate level could be better.
Vit D: 89.9nmol/L
I really don't think this level needs 10,000iu daily. What form of D3 are you taking - tablet, capsule, oral spray, oil based softgels?
Ferritin: 53.2
With your serum iron level over range then you might want to try raising your ferritin level with iron rich foods. I know the discrepancies regarding ferritin levels that you've had, do you think this result is accurate? I recently did my annual check with BH who used CP to process the tests and had a shock when my result came back at 92.8 when in May it was 59 with TDL through Medichecks and in February was 68.8 with CP through Medichecks. I'm hoping my latest result is accurate because I've been working on trying to raise it by eating liver for over 18 months now.
FT4: 14.7 (12-22)
FT3: 5.05 (3.1-6.8)
For me, on combination replacement like you, your FT4 level would have me very unwell, I need it around 65-70% through range with FT3 a bit higher, but of course we are all different. I agree with you about increasing your Levo, by all means do it very gradually, not sure if going from 121.4 to 125mcg is enough though but it's something that you can increase after your next test if you think it's not right.
Firstly, sorry for the long time before the reply! Work is crazy right now and I need a lot of sleep haha
Yes all my nutrients are lower. I guess my diet is a bit worse but I'm not really sure. I have stopped the b complex because the b12 got very high. And I stopped the iron tablets too.
I restarted the Thorne b about 7 weeks ago. So not been taking it long.
I shall take 2 of these as you suggest. I wasn’t sure if that was okay to do but it makes sense as feels like I need much more folate.
For the vitamin D I take the Thorne D drops with K2 added. I was taking 5,000 and that got me from 84 to 89 in 2 months. The reason I said 10k was I was thinking it will take ages at that pace to get back to 110ish. Maybe I could do 6,000 instead?
Re ferritin, this test is back with county who I trust the least to do a ferritin test. I suggest in reality my level is a bit lower. It usually hangs around 25-40 which is what I’d expect. I think I do need to try and eat more liver.
That’s an amazing result that you’ve just had. Do you feel any better, can you sense if that is accurate?
Re Levo yes, I think it is a bit slow. I’m wondering if to take 150 one day a week, and 125 on the other days. To give me on avg 129mcg a day, from the previous amount of 121.4. See how that goes. I just don’t seem to be getting my numbers up despite massively increasing my intake of levo and lio. My weight has gone up though so it will take more to have same impact I expect.

Personally I'd not be worried about that. Excess B12 should be excreted, it's the folate level which you should keep your eye on, if it's low then you'll need to continue the B Complex. Hopefully by restarting the Thorne Basic B it will be improving now. You should be able to drop down to 1 capsule soon. Maybe retest 3 months after restarting it to check the level.

That's a very tiny increase in 2 months. Are you taking magnesium - this helps the body convert D3 into it's usable form.
I've always used Doctor's Best softgels and it raised my severely deficient level of 15nmol/L to 202 in 2.5 months, I continue to use them to maintain as close to 150nmol/L as I can.

I honestly don't know if I trust this latest result.
In February it was 68.8 - Medichecks/CP test.
In May it was 59 - Medichecks/TDL test.
In October 92.8 - BH/CP test.
I have come to distrust all ferritin tests, particularly as whenever they've been done by my GP (rarely) it's always come back a lot lower, eg
Dec 2017 - 39 (15-300) - GP test
March 2018 - 61 (13-150) - BH/TDL
April 2018 - 77 (13-150) - Medichecks/CP
*
Sept 2018 - 47 (15-300) GP test
Nov 2018 - 74.7 (13-150) - BH/CP
*
July 2019 - 40 (15-300) GP test
Sept 2019 - 83.1 (13-150) - Medichecks/CP
*
So, like you, I am very suspicious of ferritin results. Difficult to say if I feel any better, I haven't needed to change my dose of thyroid meds and I believe I'm optimally medicated thyroid wise.

Tiny tweaks can do a lot, 2 years ago I went from 112.5mcg Levo to 116.6mcg and even that made a big difference.
