I am probably going to need a hip replacement and am worried what they may think of me taking NDT?

Surgery on NDT
I had a knee replacement and had a really upsetting time as they tried to take my NDT away as it wasn’t a prescribed drug. Fortunately, I keep my Endo on board about my purchase of it and I have an appointment every year where he checks my blood levels. I gave the hospital doctor his name and his secretary’s contact number. She was contacted and all was well.
I would advise anyone who takes thyroid hormones which are not prescribed to make your GP or Endo aware.
Hi Hapyjackie , I had a replacement lens done last year and it was the best operation I have ever come round from. Provided your FT3 is not too low then all should be well. I believe most hospitals would not do an operation if this measurement is too low. The two pre-operation assessment Nurses were very knowledgeable about this. Since this operation I have obtained my NDT prescription from a private Doctor, but also my NHS Endo is on board with all my blood tests. Hope all goes well for you.
Personally I would put enough for the stay in my washbag in a small ziplock bag but also take in some in the right bottle (not all in case they take them and they go missing!). That way you are covered if they get all stroppy.
I would strongly advise you don't keep your taking of NDT a secret, as someone has suggested ! if you had any complications and were unable to medicate yourself the Drs would need to know what to give you !
