Hi everyone

Just got my results back from medichecks. Have been having hypo symptoms(aches and pains, hair falling out, fatigue, low energy, tingling hands at night, no periods, infertility) so ordered these and have a dr appointment over phone tomorrow to discuss.. I know he will look at these see they are all in range and just say I’m fine and send me on my way, I think that the numbers could be so much better, I am on 100mcg levothyroxine, didn’t take my medication that morning so 24hrs since last dose.

TSH 1.3 (0.27-4.2)

Free thyroxine 16.2 (12-22)

FT3 4.4 (3.1-6.8)

TPO 418

TGAB 265

I know the dr will not do anything to help me. My question is shall I go private and see if I could get some t3 prescribed? Or shall I try and get a bit of an increase in levothyroxine? How much better could these numbers be? Would these levels still cause these symptoms? I know my ferritin was low when I got tested at 37 (bottom of range was 30). When I last got my TPO tested 18m ago they were 1300> I have been taking selenium, vitD, B12, folate.

Any advice welcome thank you

So you need to get vitamin D, folate, B12 tested

Coeliac blood test done too if not been tested yet

If coeliac test is negative it’s always worth trying strictly gluten free diet

Only 5% of Hashimoto’s patients are coeliac

Over 80% find strictly gluten free diet helps or is absolutely essential

Ferritin levels need improving to around 70

Ft4 is only 42% through range Ft3 only 35% through range

Helpful calculator for working out percentage through range

chorobytarczycy.eu/kalkulator

Shows fairly good conversion, but under medicated

Request 25mcg dose increase in levothyroxine

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks later

Thank you so much for your reply, what can I say to the dr to get him to agree with a 25mcg increase? I know when I was on 125 before my tsh was 0.05 and that’s why they put me down to 100mcg but the lower they put me the worse o feel, I just have a feeling he’s going to see those numbers and think they are fine. So you think I am converting well?

How much do you weigh in kilo approx

Can you use guidelines on dose by weight to push for next dose increase

1.6mcg per kilo of your weight

Alternatively request 100mcg/125mcg on alternate days

That gives 112.5mcg

Retest in 6-8 weeks

Meanwhile working on improving low vitamin levels essential

If I managed to get 112mcg would that make much of a difference?
