Covid jab and testing blood

Hello, I am due to have my blood tested next Tuesday after upping to 125mcg from 100mcg on alternate days. My GP is requesting TSH, T3, T4, antibodies(?) and B12. I was planning to get my second Covid jab this Friday (walk in). Does anyone know if this is potentially a problem before a blood test? I was wondering if I should maybe wait until after I have the blood test.

Also, I have been taking a Magnesium supplement with Vit B1, B2, B3, B5 (Pantothenic Acid) B6, B12 and Vit C. I'm sure I read on here that Vit C shouldn't be taken with B vits. Is that right? Please advise! I also take Selenium with Zinc and Vit D+K2 spray.

Thanks, as always, for any advice you can give me.

I haven't seen anything official, maybe someone else has, but personally I would do the blood test before the vaccine to avoid any kind of problem.

I have been taking a Magnesium supplement with Vit B1, B2, B3, B5 (Pantothenic Acid) B6, B12 and Vit C

As for Vit C this keeps the body from using B12 so Vit C needs to be taken 2 hours away B12.

Is this a multivitamin/mineral supplement containing all these ingredients?

Are you taking B12 because you know you need it? If you don't need B12 then it wont matter about the Vit C.

Don't forget that any supplement containing Biotin (B7) needs to be left off for 7 days before any blood test.

Thank you SeasideSusie. I'm taking Magnesium Plus, primarily for joint pain/stiffness and it happened to have all the B vits and Vit C in too. My B12 is being tested next week. I haven't taken it for a week as I ran out and wanted to check about the Vit C with B vits before buying again. I will wait to see what my B12 is before buying again. I might just get Magnesium on its own. Anyway, thanks for your reply!

I’ve always followed Medichecks advice of stoping biotin 48hrs before blood test. Hoping I’m doing the right thing…

Yes, I know Medichecks recommend 48 hours. But even their advice is rather vague and based on a small number of people:

Different people will absorb and metabolise biotin at different speeds, so it is hard to say with confidence that a particular dose of biotin is safe to continue taking when having a blood test.

.......

When someone stops taking biotin their levels will usually return to normal about 2 days after they stop taking it. This finding is based on research into relatively small numbers of people. It's not yet known whether this can be applied to the general population.

It seems to be that it may be large doses of Biotin that causes problems with results so as we don't know if any members take a large dose, or whether they take the smaller doses generally included in a B Complex, we cover every eventuality by suggesting 7 days, 2 days may be OK for the smaller doses but we should still bear in mind that Medichecks admit they don't really know.

Thanks Susie. Mine is a small amount in a bone building multi for my osteoporosis. Useful thanks.
