Well, when you're taking T3 the FT3 is the most important result (it's actually the most important whatever thyroid meds we take), otherwise how do you know you're taking enough or too much? We don't always feel symptoms of overmedication.
Most of us do private tests when we can't get FT3 tested on the NHS. Cheapest for TSH, FT4 and FT3 is MonitorMyHealth which is an NHS hospital lab that offers the test to the general public for £26.10 with code found here:
I have given up gluten but only 3 weeks ago. Folate b12 and ferritin were done recently shown in the blood tests results. I am taking 50 mcg a day of T3. I take vitamin d and vitamin c.
I don't know. I was very deficient a few years ago and was given high dose for 3 months on prescription. Was tested again and said fine and told to take maintenance dose of 400iu. Should I increase? The gp won't test it like they won't test T3. If I pay private for tests where do you go to have blood drawn. Every time I get blood tests done it is very difficult to get blood from arm and sometimes have to go back another day to try again. Should I increase the vitamin d?
Sorry to hear you are having a difficult time Katherine 107. I can identify what you are talking about. I have a private endocrinologist who wants my Vit D to be 125 and recommends dietary intervention with a nutritionist such as Isabella Wetz. I am now taking at least 4000 iu vit d to get my level up from 90.
Best wishes with your endeavours. This forum is enormously supportive and they are so knowledgeable.
As Slow Dragon says when you have the results of Vitamin D test come back to the forum and post result. I suspect you will need a significantly higher dosage.
When I was unable to tolerate levothyroxine, it was because I had gluten enteropathy which had caused Hashimoto's and severely depleted all my nutritionals. Do you have Hashimoto's?
Izabella Wentz is a pharmacist who had Hashi's. The books of hers you would be most interested in are "Hashimoto's Protocol: A 90-Day Plan for Reversing Thyroid Symptoms and Getting Your Life Back" and "Hashimoto's Thyroiditis: Lifestyle Interventions for Finding and Treating the Root Cause".
