Just had results back and would appreciate advice on thyroid and vitamin levels please. Feeling reasonably well atm but am still experiencing shakes which I think may be due to adrenal issues.

TSH 0.005

FT3 6.34 (3.1-6.8)

FT4 17.3 (12-22)

TGAb 231 (<115)

TpoAb 12 (<34)

Ferritin 181 (13-150)

B12 107 (>37.5)

Vit D 131 (50-175)

Thanks in advance.

What thyroid meds are you taking?

Presumably appropriate time gaps before doing the test? Levo - 24 hours, T3/NDT - 8-12 hours.

No biotin/B complex for a week beforehand?

Fasting test/water only before test?

Nutrients all look OK, what about Folate?

Thyroid levels look OK and as you feel well I wouldn't alter them.

I’m currently taking 75mcg levo and 20mcg t3 plus 2 T-life daily. Thyroid results were low last test and endo seems to have abandoned me after saying he would increase my dose, so on advice from ND I introduced the T-life. Test done 8am and fasted with meds taken 12 and 24 hours prior as usual. I came off my Vit b over a week before. Can’t seem to find the folate results on my report.

I don't know what T-Life is and can't find it with a Google search. Hopefully it doesn't contain iodine or other vitamins/minerals that should be tested before supplementing.

It’s a WDT. A bit like metavive.

Ah, OK. Your results seem to show that your treatment regime is looking good, I'd just keep an eye on your FT3 to make sure it doesn't go too high, but I'm sure you'll do that anyway :)

Thanks for your reply. I’ve just contacted medichecks for my folate result but I’ve been told that the ultravit test doesn’t include folate. Strange cos every other one I’ve done has! I’ll recheck my levels in a few months. Tx

They haven't had the ULTRAVIT test for a while, maybe you purchased it some time ago.

The original ULTRAVIT test did include Folate but they had a lot of failures with the folate test so they changed it to ULTRAVIT which didn't include Folate, and then added ULTRAVIT WITH FOLATE test which cost more and I think needed a venous blood draw. It's now been changed to ADVANCED THYROID FUNCTON TEST and they include Folate again now:

but I don't know when they introduced this one and stopped the other ones.

Yes I bought my test in October when the price was reduced but for one reason or another didn’t get round to doing it until recently. Can I just ask when you’re here what good Vit d level would be? I currently use the Better you Vit d spray with K2 but I find it very expensive and doesn’t last long. Is there another brand which you’d recommend?

The Vit D Society and Grassroots Health both recommend a level of 100-150nmol/L. I like to keep mine as close to 150 as possible (I was severely deficient at 15nmol/L when I first tested).

I've always used Doctor's Best D3 softgels which are a nice clean supplement with no excipients, just D3 and extra virgin olive oil, and a nice small softgel. I shop around for best price but it's usually either BigVits or Dolphin Fitness. Of course, it has to be 4 hours away from thyroid meds, unlike the oral spray.

For K2-MK7 I like Vegavero or Vitabay, whichever is available. They contain the correct form of K2-MK7 (the all -trans form, zero cis-form). 100mcg is the correct amount for up to 10,000iu D3. If the 200mcg dose is in stock it usually works out cheaper to buy that and they have a score mark so can be cut in half or take alternate days

amazon.co.uk/Vitamin-natura...

As it's a tablet it needs to be taken with some fat for absorption as it's one of the fat soluble vitamins.

Thanks SeasideSusie. May have to stick to the spray then as I take 3 doses of meds during the day along with other supplements and it’s difficult keeping track of it all and making sure they’re well spaced out.

Hi SeasideSusie, T-life does contain vits/minerals which should be tested. The makers of Metavive are producing T-Life which has been compounded to a formulation suggested by a Naturopath. I had had problems with the new formula Metavive and this was suggested for me so I asked for details. No nucleotides, but instead was told it has L-tyrosine, organic kelp (<7%) and selenium as sodium selenite (16% RDA). On enquiring further I was told that this is per capsule. As I previously took 5 capsules of Metavive the 16% of RDA then becomes 80% of RDA for the selenium which I don't need to supplement. Some people take more than this.I have refused to trial this. I don't want to be used as a guinea pig again.

Oh right, thank you Anthea. Mmmm,... Doesn't sound the best :(I haven't heard of it and it didn't show up with a Google search. Is this being trialled then and only available through a practioner?

I thought it was being trialled - I was offered it end November by naturopath. Probably same person who advised Mickeydooley. Not on the Procepts website.
