Any advice on latest bloods would be appreciated

Hi Guys,

Back again - latest results are back. I'm filling a little better but still feel I haven't really hit the nail on the head yet. Currently on 3 grains of WP Thyroid. Any thoughts on latest results would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

Vickser

Vickser,

Did you take NDT before your blood draw?

Hi Clutter, I had taken my NDT 12 hours before the blood draw - I realise it should be 24 hours but it was the only appointment I could get that week.

Vickser,

12 hours is better when taking NDT or T3. You are very mildly over medicated as FT3 is 5.9 just slightly over the top of range. I wouldn't reduce dose unless you feel over medicated but I also wouldn't increase dose.

vickser You need to get that ferritin up to half way through the range. Thyroid hormone can't do it's job properly until ferritin is at least 70, half way through range is best. You need an iron supplement and each tablet should be taken with 1000mg Vit C to aid absorption and help prevent constipation. Take iron 4 hours away from thyroid meds.

Also B12 should be at the top of the range and folate at least half way through it's range, you might want to supplement with a sublingual methylcobalamin lozenge for the B12 plus a B Complex with methylfolate to balance the B vits and increase folate level. B vits should be taken in the morning as they can be stimulating.

A Vit D test would also be useful, the recommended level is 100-150nmol/L.
