Would anybody mind casting an eye over my blood test results?

Hi,

Back from the endo appointment. Unfortunately he hasn't tested freeT3 or for antibodies as I thought would be happening but on request has set these up for next time.

I'm on 75mcg levothyroxine at the moment and these are results taken 6 weeks after the dose was increased from 50mcg.

From bloods taken 1 week ago;

Vit D - 74nmol (76-250)

Vit B12 - 549.6pg/ml (197-771)

Serum folate- 20.00ng/ml (3.89-26.80)

TSH - 0.242mIU/L (0.27 - 4.20)

Free T4 17.19pmol/L (12-22)

The endocrinologist said it was all good, not bothered by lower TSH and not to lower dose because of it.

He said he didn't do fT3 because he wouldn't treat it while I'm pregnant anyway as there isn't enough data on it's use in pregnancy, which I'm fine with as baby comes first. He said we could definitely look at this after the pregnancy.

Should I be happy with this? Lots of what I've read on here about ranges I don't really understand, but I can see the vit d, for example is under, which he said wasn't a problem...but is it worth adding more vit d? I'm on a prenatal vitamin that includes it and have been for at least the last 4 months and am still low.

Thanks

Thanks, that's what I thought and why I asked for it, but bloods not retested for 8 weeks. Do you know though if conversion problem would be treatable during pregnancy?

I've had problem stemming back to puberty and only just been listened to after 30 odd years. So although the symptoms are very definitely not new to me, everything around thyroid is and I'm finding it a step learning curve. I've read about the gene that affects conversion, would this be the only reason for poor conversion or are there others? Do hashimoto's and DIO2 co-exist or is it one or the other?

Thanks so much for your reply

I’m surprised your endo ignored your low vitamin D. You do need to raise it but probably best to supplement under medical guidance as you are pregnant.

Thanks, that's the really hard thing. If it were just me I'd go ahead and supplement, but not being given the advice to do so makes me hesitant. I have another 5 weeks until my next Midwife appointment too...not that I envisage that to be terribly helpful on the topic of thyroid and vitamin d anyway. My diet has been limited for the last 5 weeks due to morning sickness but I've just bought some fortified gluten free cereal and dried fruit as a way to try and up it a little.

How much vit D is in your pregnancy supplement?

I would post again, putting Vitamin D and pregnancy in the headline, then you may get a better response.
