Testing showed he is just above the normal range however 2 years ago he was in the normal range for TSH so they say he has slight hypothyroid.
I am trying to get the rest of his results sent to me as dr rang him with results so of course as a teenager he was very vague. Due to privacy laws he has to give permission for me to access results . Stupid law. So he has just deigned to give me permission so hopefully I can see rest of results soon.
He has always been small for his age and was tested for growth hormone when younger and has been found to have delayed puberty and 2 year younger bone growth. He is nearly 18 now.
He has been doing a lot of body building and taking whey protein and 5 g per day creatine for months now.
Can that affect thyroid function blood test results?
He has normal b12 and folate and iron. He has been taking a good multivitamin

Ok thanks. Well now he has decided he will let me see the results finally it will help.We eat very healthily at home with lots of whole food fruit veges, berries , nuts, fish, meat, etc. no sugar. His shakes are 100% whey grass fed no additives. He takes fish oil and Hardys daily essential nutrients each day. He does drink a bit now which I try and advise him against but can’t tell teenagers. He doesn’t eat too much junk but not sure how much he buys himself. I never have any processed food in the house as my husband has Parkinson’s.
I think he pushes his body too hard with the weights. He never does things by half. He has had a lot of the year refusing to go to sleep on time then sleeping in and often not getting enough sleep. Again he won’t listen to me.
He had been gluten and dairy free a while as I suspect he is intolerant to gluten , maybe dairy, but has had genetic celiac test and isn’t celiac. He has gone back to eating gluten a few months back and milk.
He gets sore stomach often, and when on school or football camps he is often ill with stomach pains. Food or stress maybe?
Today he has felt ill all day , dizzy and light headed. Last night he couldn’t breathe properly he said.
Hi. I’m am no expert. My son is 21 and I’m a bodybuilder. Going to the gym and lifting weight is mental health but also it is physical stress on the body. Your son needs ideally 2grams of protein to 1kg of body weight. Meaning If he weighed 80kgs he would need 160 grams of protein in a day over 5 meals. Ideally each meal would be 30 grams but one meal would be 40 grams to get to 160 grams and I would recommend 40 grams of protein after he works out. Eggs are a super food. Lots of vitamins and fats. Nuts are also great. That’s the nutrition very briefly touched. My son at 18 was up all night on the PlayStation and with his mates. The average 18 year old needs about 11 hours sleep but it is a journey they have to go on and when they feel wrecked it’s their price for the choices made. It is hard. Your son is a young man and with that comes consequences of their decisions. It’s hard to watch as a parent but I would say pick your battles. Please in no way am I telling you how to parent. God knows I’m not the best parent. I am very close with my son. We are the same people and talk heart to heart. Staying connected is one of the most important things you can do and not judge. I accept my children for who they are. I don’t always like their decisions but they are there’s to make and there mistakes to make as well. Hopefully they learn first time round. You’re doing a great job. Never forget that
Thank. He’s about 70kg. He has 2 scoops of whey protein, most days 2-3 eggs , a can of tuna or baked beans on top of our normal meals where he would have about 150 g of meat or fish or beans or lentils. Also cheese, lots of peanut butter on toast and other raw nuts. 140 g of protein is a lot though. Do you think that doesn’t sound enough?
Does this affect thyroid function?
As for sleep he does what he likes, always has. My other children are more compliant but he can’t be told.
He’s eating plenty of food. 150gs of meat is 30 grams of protein. When you bodybuilding it’s all about the proteins and keeping it spaced out evenly across the day. He’s doing a good job there.
What do you think of the 5g creatine? He has been taking it a while. I’m not sure if that affected his thyroid results as when I googled it it seems it might but he won’t stop.We are ultra careful with diet die to his dads Parkinson’s but who knows wha5 he eats when out
