9th November 2020 Thyroid Panel

Range for T4. 16.3 (10.0 - 18.7)

Range for T3. 4.9 (3.5 - 6.5)

TSH 0.16 (0.38-5.5)

13th October 2020 Iron Panel

Ferritin 8 (10-322)

TIBC 88 (45-81)

Serum Iron 19 (9-30)

Transferrin Saturation 22% (15-50)

Transferrin iron 3.5 (2.5-3.8)

So after really low ferritin and on 3 x 200mg daily ferrous sulphate these are my new results after 7/8 weeks approx including last 2 weeks gluten and lactose free.

BTW I rarely drink alcohol as I think I have developed an alcohol intolerance and the last time I drank was November 11th when I was told the lump in my breast was BENIGN.

See previous posts for vitamins etc and how my chat went with the doctor who wanted to lower my Thyroxine. (p. S I would do it!)

Couldn’t see any results in previous posts for vitamin D, folate and B12

Have they been tested recently?

So vitamin D is just about high enough. How long have you been taking 2000iu

Aiming to keep vitamin D at least around 80nmol and around 100nmol maybe better

Rather than just taking B12 supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid) may be beneficial.

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

Difference between folate and folic acid

Many Hashimoto’s patients have MTHFR gene variation and can have trouble processing folic acid.

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Igennus Super B is good quality and cheap vitamin B complex. Contains folate. Full dose is two tablets per day. Many/most people may only need one tablet per day. Certainly only start on one per day (or even half tablet per day for first couple of weeks)

Or Thorne Basic B is another option that contain folate, but is large capsule

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

***since May 2019, when I joined here and saw how important it was!

I will invest in a new one with folate.

Not a new vitamin D (if that’s what you seem to be suggesting)

Are you using vitamin D mouth spray?

Also taking vitamin K2 and magnesium?

Instead of just vitamin B12 ......a vitamin B complex

No I take a vitamin d liquid capsule....

No I don't take K2 or magnesium but I was reading a post earlier that mentioned this and I made a note of it by you and human bean I think!

I will have a look at the links for vitamin recommendations you've posted before and get some good ones.

I will test again in February to make sure we are on course!

Thank you

Looking like ferritin is going up.....keep going

Retest iron levels in 6-8 weeks time

Have you seen improvements in symptoms since cutting gluten and lactose

Doctors doing iron and thyroid again 29th of Dec so I will of been on gluten and lactose free diet 5 weeks so hoping to see the biggest improvement from the diet then!My gut certainly feels better. I had a dairy free probiotic this morning and felt awful after it with bloatedness.. Went straight to the fridge and it said contains gluten! Or maybe I just can't have oats.. But I knew straight away. Yes I do feel better.

What did you think to Thyroid test. I read somewhere that intolerance to gluten can raise thyroglobulin levels but mine seem very extreme..wish I'd of copied the link now!

Although I don't recognise the measuring KU/L and I've never had it tested before do I've nothing to compare it to either

Thyroglobulin antibodies may have always been that high

Thyroglobulin antibodies seem to reduce the lower TSH goes.

TPO antibodies often seem to slowly reduce on strictly gluten free diet
