Results back need advice please

Hi all, hope you can help me. I have just received my results back from Medichecks and need some advice please. I do not seems to be having any health issues except for hair shredding. I realise that my ferritin and Vit D are low and could be a contributor for hair loss. My TPA antibodies are sky high could this be a main factor for alopecia? Also the start of Hashi's or Graves? No idea what I should do next. My GP isn't very helpful so at a loss how to go forward.

I have already had an ultrasound on my thyroid and it came back all clear in July. However, I am experiencing hair shred quite badly, have seen a hair specialist and was told its Alopecia but lotions and potions do not seem to be stopping it.

I was wondering what to do next re medication if it is the TPA results. I don't really like taking tablets but if I have to and it will help with the hairloss and to reduce my antibodies would I have to be on them for life?? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Here are my results:

CRP HS - 0.33 mg/L (range <5)

Ferritin - 53.70 ug/L (range 13-150) Low for hair loss

B12 Active - 127.000 pmol/L (range >37.5)

Vit D - 53.60 nmol/L (range 50-175) Low

TSH - 0.84 mlU/L (range 0.27-4.2)

Free T3 - 4.48 pmol/L (range 3.1-6.80)

Free Thyroxine - 15.600pmolL (range 12-22)

Thyroglobulin - 77.400klU/L (range <115)

Thyroid Peroxidase -123.00 klU/L (range <34) High

Is TGA the start of Hashi's or Graves?

If wanting to check Graves a TSH receptor antibody is more specific but at the moment your thyroid results are in range, so perhaps you have caught the autoimmune response early? Sorry I am not much more help. My thyroid was hyper but antibodies normal. Now it’s moving back into range and TSH gradually coming back up but my antibody has now gone up and my US in August was clear similarly. It does get a bit cryptic!

Hi Curious123, thanks for your reply. The Medicheck results have stated that some people with elevated antibodies never go on to develop a thyroid problem. Which is a little confusing because I have no idea why they are so high. I have been tested for lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, thyroid etc but all results come back ok. I do hope you aren't suffering too many problems this is definitely a minefield to get to grips with.

I am getting there, thanks for asking. I have pernicious anaemia and thyroid antibodies may be slightly elevated with PA, but historically never have been so this is new for me. Hopefully we both get to the bottom of things soon!

I am being checked for PA too. I'm more worried about he hair loss to be honest, it's awful will have to buy a topper at this rate. Hopefully on Friday after seeing my consultant more light will be shed on the matter. Good luck and praying we all get through it and start seeing some positive results.

High thyroid antibodies confirms autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s)

Early stage Hashimoto’s frequently starts with transient hyperthyroid Swings as thyroid cells breakdown releasing thyroid hormones

Vitamin D has dropped, despite taking supplement. How much vitamin D are you currently taking

Presumably you are supplementing zinc too

Did you remember to stop taking vitamin B complex a week before test?

Biotin in vitamin B complex can falsely affect test results

Are you still strictly gluten free and dairy free

Hi SlowDragon thanks for your reply. I stopped all supplements a month before my blood tests. Solvazinc 45mg a day prescribed by GP, Vit D - D3 1000iu & K2 90ug, Iron-C, Magnesium 375 one a day, Active B complex with methylfolate, Biotin - 5000mg per day, Selenium 200ug. I'm both gluten and diary free.

Supplements can be taken up to day before blood test....except for anything with biotin in needs to stop a week before

If measuring iron, stop iron supplements a week before testing
