Hello, I'm new here but looking at the posts and the excellent depth of answers I hope that a member(s) could advise me on my recent blood tests:

CRP HS 3.17 mg/L (Range <5)

Ferritin 138 ug/L (13 - 150)

Folate Serum 7.08 ug/L (>3.89)

Vitamin B12 Active 95.000 pmol/L (>37.5)

Vitamin D 23.6 nmol/L (50 -175)

TSH 2.3 mlU/L (0.27 - 4.2)

Free T3 5.6 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8)

Free Thyroxine 16.000 pmol/L (12 - 22)

Thyroglobulin Antibodies 11.000 klU/L (<115)

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies <9.0 klU/L (<34)

I am taking medication for high blood pressure and a hiatus hernia.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Welcome to the forum.

I'm guessing you're not on thyroid meds?

Your doctor will tell you your thyroid results are all nicely in range. Your TSH is higher than I would like, but not anyway near high enough for you to get thyroid meds if you aren't already on them The GP will want them well over range - possibly as high as 10 - before treating you. Your free T4 is only 40% through range but your free T3 is 2/3 through range.

How do you feel? I'm guessing not great, or you wouldn't be here. What hypo symptoms do you have?

As far as your key nutrients are concerned, your vit D is really low. You should see your doctor about supplementing that - and maybe get outside more, now it's sunny x

Thank you fuchsia-pink. No, I am not on thyroid meds - just feeling unwell and, having looked at the thyroid checklist, I was able to tick quite a lot of the conditions so thought I would have the blood test and then ask the experts.

I have booked a telephone appointment with my doctor to talk things through with him.

Thank you for your time.

Most obvious issue is that you are very deficient in a Vitamin D

GP should prescribe LOADING dose vitamin D

That’s 300,000iu vitamin D over 6-8 weeks and most importantly retest levels at end of course

NHS Guidelines on dose vitamin D required

ouh.nhs.uk/osteoporosis/use...

GP will often only prescribe to bring levels to 50nmol.

Some areas will prescribe to bring levels to 75nmol

leedsformulary.nhs.uk/docs/...

GP should advise on self supplementing if over 50nmol, but under 75nmol (but they rarely do)

mm.wirral.nhs.uk/document_u...

But improving by self supplementing to around 80nmol or 100nmol by self supplementing may be better

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/218...

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Test twice yearly via vitamindtest.org.uk

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is very effective as it avoids poor gut function. There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7

It’s trial and error what dose we need

Government recommends everyone supplement October to April

Thank you SlowDragon for your detailed reply. I will go through the links you kindly sent (while sitting outside soaking up the sunshine) and will be speaking to my doctor re Vit D medication.

Thank you for time, it is greatly appreciated.

Recommend getting full thyroid and vitamins retested in say 6-12 months

It will take long long time for vitamin D levels to pick right up
