I currently take Magnesium glycinate made by Barefoot Nutrition as this has no additives or fillers but would Magnesium Citrate be ok instead I’m not really sure how much difference it would make, has anyone used either and have any idea which is best for hypo and sleep ? Thanks in advance 👍

No-one can tell you the best form of magnesium to take, there is no particular form for hypothyroidism. There are many different forms and they each help with certain conditions. Have a read of the following links to see what each form is suggested for then decide which one is best suited to your own needs:

I use pure magnesium citrate powder as it helps with the lifelong constipation I have suffered, I also use magnesium taurate for my heart.

I try to avoid excipients if at all possible. If you want a pure form of magnesium citrate with no excipients then have a look at Natural Vitality Natural Calm Original Magnesium Citrate powder, it's what I use. Start with a small amount and build up slowly, you will know when you have taken too much as your will get loose stools/diarrhoea so you just drop back a bit.

You dissolve it with a small amount of warm water. I add a little orange juice to make a pleasant little drink.

It's sold on ebay and Amazon although I have another source where I buy 2 at a time which works out a bit cheaper.

I haven't used glycinate but use citrate which is fine, if you take too much you will get loose stools but then you back off and save some money. Oxide, sulphate and hydroxide are not much use. It's more important to have your hypothyroidism correctly treated, when hypo intracellular Mg is low, when hyper the kidneys reslease more Mg.

Think I’m going to give citrate a try 👍
