Hello wise sages, I’d like to supplement with magnesium but I’m totally confused by the wide array of types available. Which is the best for us hypothyroids? I’d heard that oxide and chloride types cause constipation. Thanks x

Oxide is the least absorbable. If you suffer from constipation then magnesium citrate has a mild laxative effect.
They all help different situations, check the different types here and see which would be most suitable for you
Calm vitality magnesium powder is cheap and easy to use. Starting at low dose, as too much can cause diarrhoea. Obviously the right amount is good if suffer constipation
All magnesium must be four hours away from Levothyroxine.
Best taken in afternoon or evening as it can help improve sleep and is relaxing
I've never been tested for magnesium, I'm deficient in vit D and have been low on iron although that is now sorted so why don't they test for this? I wonder if there is a private test for it.
There’s no realistic test for magnesium
The one available only tests serum levels, this pretty much always comes back in range
There is a cell test in development, not available in UK
But most people with modern diets are magnesium deficient, vegetables are grown in soil that is short of magnesium
Thyroid patients or anyone supplementing vitamin D recommended to consider adding magnesium
