A lot is being said about other vitamins and minerals, and many use supplements, but I have not been able to find much info about vit E. My doctor never tests it; only vits A, B12, and D.
Is anyone taking vit E as a supplement? When should it be supplemented?
Yes I take Vit E, have done so for very many years (400 i.u. daily). It's a powerful anti-oxidant.

Thanks, good to know! Since my doctor does not test my vit E levels, I am a bit afraid to take too much...since it´s a fat soluble vitamin it will build up in the body. Since my doctor tests my vit D and A levels I know I am not overdosing...but it seems the dose you take is safe.
I´ll have to read more about vit E and what it does in the body.

Yes, it's good to educate oneself. The main sources of E are apparently vegetable oils, olive oil, margarine, almonds and peanuts, meats, dairy, leafy greens and fortified cereals. I eat hardly any of those due to various intolerances, so I think it's essential I supplement.
I use natural Vit E (avoid synthetic) as a blood thinner but also try to avoid polyunsaturated oils - have a look at Ray Peat on Vit E raypeat.com/articles/articl..., quote 'Since the requirement for vitamin E decreases as the consumption of unsaturated fats decreases, the requirement, if any, would be very small if we didn't eat significant quantities of those fats.' Just a thought!
