I have been taking Vit D for over three years since I tested very low for it.
After reading about how we should take vitamin K2 with the vit D to help the calcium reach the bones and teeth, I recently purchased some with Vit K2 MK4 but have since read it should be K2 MK7 we should take.
Can anyone please advise if in fact MK7 is better to take and if so can anyone recommend a good brand.
Many thanks.

lucylocks When I was looking into K2, from my reading and research it appears that MK4 is synthetic with a short half life of about one hour. MK7 is natural and present in fermented foods such as natto (MK7 supplements are usually made from this) plus brie and Edam cheese and has a longer half life, about 3 days, so builds up better than MK4.
Worth researching for more information.
I take MK7 as part of a combo supplement so can't recommend a separate MK7 supplement, but when looking for one avoid any that contain soy oil which I noticed in some when I was looking.
lucylocks I take this one as it also contains a good amount of Vit A as I have a lung disease and Retinyl Palmitate is supposed to help amazon.co.uk/Nutricology-Al...
I have tried Thorne Vit D combined with K2 but it is MK 4 and I have read the MK7 is better. I have looked at Maxx Labs. and it is MK7 so I am going to try this.
I take an MK7 supplement as I read that this was the most effective type to take. I have no idea whether the one I take is good quality or not, and I have no idea whether it actually works. It is an act of faith!
The one I've got is Life Extension Super K2 Advanced K2 Complex and like dolphin 5 I'd say it was an act of faith for me too.
It doesn't have soy oil though. They contain Vit C, K1, K2 as menaquinone-4, K2 as menaquinone-7. Extra ingredients are extra virgin olive oil, gelatin, glycerin, beeswax, purified water and carob colour and it says it is Non-GMO.
Life Extension Super K2 Advanced Complex was the first one I used. The reason I stopped was because it has a lot of K1 (K1 aids blood clotting and should be avoided by anyone taking a blood thinner), a lot of MK4 and very little MK7.
Ingredients:
Vitamin K1 (as phytonadione) 1500 mcg
Vitamin K2 (as menaquinone-4) 1000 mcg
Vitamin K2 (as menaquinone-7) 200 mcg
Hi, I can recommend Healthspan because the calcium I had been prescribed Adcal...(rubbish) had caused the calcium to go above range in my blood. I researched about K2 and started taking Healthspans K2 Mk-7. My last blood test showed the Level had dropped back into the range. I am having another blood test Tuesday and will know if there is any more improvement. x
I was first prescribed Adcal from G.P. as he said women of a certain age need added calcium. I then joined this site and was told if Calcium is in range I did not need extra, so I never took them. I purchased my own Vit D.
I will have a look at Healthspans.
I hope you find an improvement in your calcium level.
Thank you too. I was initially given high dose Vit D supplements and I felt absolutely like a new woman for a few weeks. Then changed to Adcal and totally trusted GP. Believing that this improvement would last !!! Looking back considering it was Vit D deficiency I had there was no need for Adcal which contains more Calcium than D. Even after my results showed over range Calcium in my blood the GP said it is of no consequence! I stopped the Adcal myself but she was still prescribing it. During a later Endo appointment the Doctor even mentioned the results as being over. I started to supplement my own Vit D3 which is in good range now and that's when I realised I needed the K2 Mk-7. I don't take anything the GP's say as absolute anymore. During the same time I was being given other meds that have caused me lots of issues, also too low a dose Thyroxine. I am sorting through them but it's painful. Best Wishes to you x
I take Fultium for Vit d deficiency and after readin on here that you should take k2 I made the mistake of buying it in Holland and Barrett which contained soya definately didn't agree with me as it contains soya. Should of read the label!! So beware x
I take natto suppplement from Troo Health I also eat a little brie cheese instead when taking my Vit D. which I also obtain from Troo Health. Natto is fermented soya but some cheese which are fermented are good to.
I too, have low Vit D. and have hypothyroidism. I make sure to get consistent sunlight which also helps in Vit D absorption. Some tanning salons offer light therapy to use during winter months and when sunlight is minimal.
