Blood test results - grateful if you could have a look

Hi, I have some in range results that I think a bit low, but doc not concerned. Doctor ordered these, 8.30am test.

Serum B12 465 (200-900) my active B12 from Medichecks a month earlier was 38.4 (37.5 - 187.5)

Folate 7.2 (3.9-19.8)

Ferritin 15 (12-300)

TSH 1.55 (0.35 - 5.00)

T4 14.9 (11-23)

I have a referal to endo for nodules on thyroid and a thyroglossal duct cyst.

My main issue is feeling exhausted. I've been taking the B12 oral spray and Vit D spray for over a month now and still don't feel any better (these results were also low on my previous Medichecks result yet Doc wouldn't investigate Pernicious Amenia)

Any comments would be appreciated. Is it iron supplementation I need, or to sort out the B12? or both?

Your doctor may not be concerned but he certainly should be about your ferritin level.

Ferritin 15 (12-300)

Ferritin is recommended to be half way through range, although doctors only care that it's somewhere within range. Your level is just 1.04% into the range.

Low ferritin can suggest iron deficiency anaemia and your GP should do an iron panel and full blood count.

Do you have any symptoms of low ferritin - these can include

Symptoms of low ferritin include:

◾Weakness

◾Fatigue

◾Difficulty concentrating

◾Poor work productivity

◾Cold hands and feet

◾Poor short-term memory

◾Difficulty remembering names

◾Dizziness

◾Pounding in the ears

◾Shortness of breath

◾Brittle nails

◾Headaches

◾Restless legs

Here is an article about low ferritin:

I think your low ferritin level is playing a major part in you feeling exhausted, possibly your B12 as well.

Serum B12 465 (200-900) my active B12 from Medichecks a month earlier was 38.4 (37.5 - 187.5)

I've been taking the B12 oral spray

Active B12 test is the better test as this tells us what is available for the cells to use.

In reply to your previous post here: healthunlocked.com/thyroidu... SlowDragon advised you that if your GP wouldn't do further testing for Pernicious Anaemia then you should pursue this privately and gave you a link. Medichecks also do further testing. You would be well advised to do so but now that you have been taking the B12 spray you will need to leave this off for a couple of months before the further testing.

How much Vit D spray are you taking? For the level of 59.7nmol/L that was recorded in your Medichecks test 2 months ago then a daily dose of 4,000iu D3 would be about right, along with D3's important cofactors magnesium (which helps the body convert D3 into it's usable form) and Vit K2-MK7 (which directs the extra uptake of calcium to bones and teeth and away from arteries and soft tissues).

Folate is low and the recommended level is at least half way through range. You can't supplement for this until further testing of B12 has been carried out as supplementing folate or folic acid masks signs of B12 deficiency.

Thanks.

I have many of those symptoms associated with low ferritin.

Unfortunately, our finances wouldn't allow any more private testing so I thought I would hit the B12 hard to see if I felt any better. My plan was to retake the medichecks thyroid vit plus test just before my endo apt in March. So saving for that.

I've been taking the 3000 vit d spray but not the extras so will look at that.
