Any advice on my latest Medichecks numbers gratefully received, thank you

Hi All

I am hypo with Hashis

My main symptom is achy muscles, especially of the vastus medialis, as I am a keen cyclist

Here are my Medichecks results, taken on 9/1/20

TSH 0.912 (0.22-4.20)

FT3 5.66 (3.1-6.8)

FT4 17.3. (12-22)

TGO. 392. (<115)

TPO. 61.5. (<34)

This was achieved on 1.5 NDT for the last 8 weeks

So, even though the TSH is now under 1 and the FT4 in the upper part of the range

(where many on here have said you have to be to feel better)

I can honestly say that the achy muscles are absolutely no better at all!

So, advice please on where to go from here?

Increase NDT?

Add T3?

Add Levo?

Add X supplement?

Anything else?

Why are the antibodies increasing, steadily?

Is the added hormone (NDT) making them increase?

Has anybody had any luck bringing them down?

I understand with rising antibodies, the thyroid gradually shuts down its own production of hormones?

At what Antibodies Number does the thyroid pack up altogether?

Would it be useful to see an endo for further advice on say, ultrasound etc?

And in the Wellman Medichecks results, all in range, except

Proteins - Globulin 38.3 (19-35)

White blood cells - Neutrophils 1.64 (2-7.5)

Thank you

Your FT4 is only 53% through the range, and the FT3 is 68.85%. So, plenty of room for a small increase - 1/4 grain of NDT. See what that does.

So, even though the TSH is now under 1 and the FT4 in the upper part of the range

(where many on here have said you have to be to feel better)

That's on T4 only. On NDT, the FT4 is often a lot lower.

Why are the antibodies increasing, steadily?

Because you have Hashi's. Antibody levels move around. It doesn't mean anything.

Has anybody had any luck bringing them down?

Even if you brought them down, you'd still have Hashi's. That doesn't change.

I understand with rising antibodies, the thyroid gradually shuts down its own production of hormones?

No. Where did you hear that? The antibodies don't have much effect on the thyroid itself. Have a look at this:

hashimotoshealing.com/under...

With Hashi's, the immune system attacks the thyroid, and slowly destroys it. It doesn't shut down, it is gradually killed off. But, the antibodies don't do the attacking. And, it's impossible to know how long it will take to kill off your thyroid.

Would it be useful to see an endo for further advice on say, ultrasound etc?

Very few endos know anything about Hashi's. Most of them are diabetes specialists. An ultrasound would tell you how much thyroid you've got left, but little else.

Thank you greygoose for your usual very comprehensive post

I have learnt a lot from it

Yes I shall ask for a referral to an NHS endo (I've spent enough already!)

So, I shall try upping the NDT dose and retest in 8 weeks?

However, I don't really care what the numbers say

Like everybody on here, I just want to feel well again

For me this means riding my bike like I used to!

I just want to get rid of these muscle aches and will try absolutely anything to achieve this

Thank you - again

That's what I'd do, try increasing the NDT and see what happens. :)

Check your vitamin levels? Could be any number of deficits eg magnesium b12 etc

Thank you jamanda

Medichecks tested both and they were in the top of the range

D, ferritin, folate too were all ok

Thanks
