First Drs appointment I’ve not cried which I think might have something to do with the better you b12 vitamin spray raising my b12 by 600 in the last month or so! Other than not being quite so tearful I’m still symptomatic. I’ve been prescribed iron but am worried about absorption and have a spray too. I’ve also got selenium for H&B to hopefully reduce antibodies. Still taking 100 mg thyroxine and just switched to a bedtime dose to see if it helps. Worst symptoms are bad brain fog, feeling drunk, exhaustion, painfully bad tinnitus, fainting and unable to work. Does anybody have any advice based on more recent results? TIA x

Absorption of what? The iron? Take vit C with it for absorption. But, whatever you do - and you could also try eating liver once a week - you really do need to increase that ferritin, it could be affecting your conversion, which isn't brilliant. Your FT3 is still a tad on the low-side, which could be why you still have symptoms.
Reducing antibodies will not reduce your Hashi's. You will still have it.
Absorption of iron. I’ve been taking a multivitamin since before my diagnosis of iron, b12, vit d, but have had low results each time until I started a b12 oral spray which has shot it up to the other end of the range in just a month, I’m curious as to wether I’m absorbing well in the stomach? Dr said the iron spray wouldn’t be a large enough dose to get it up and prescribed three tablets a day. I’ve got the spray as well and think I may try both. I’m afraid the thought of meat makes me queasy! Love oranges though so can get lots of vit C there hopefully!
* If your multi contains iron, it will block the absorption of all the vitamins - you won't absorb a single one! Iron should be taken at least two hours away from any other supplement except vit C, which is necessary to aid absorption of iron, and protect the stomach.
* If your multi also contains calcium, the iron and calcium will bind together and you won't be able to absorb either of them.
* Multi's often contain things you shouldn't take or don't need : calcium, iodine, copper. These things should be tested before supplementing.
* Multi's often contain the cheapest, least absorbable form of the supplement : magnesium oxide, instead of magnesium citrate or one of the other good forms; cyanocobalamin instead of methylcobalamin; folic acid instead of methylfolate; etc. etc. etc.
* Multi's do not contain enough of anything to help a true deficiency, even if you could absorb them.
* When taking several supplements, you should start them individually at two weekly intervals, not all at once as you would with a multi. Because, if you start them all at once, and something doesn't agree with you, you won't know which one it is and you'll be back to square one.
With a multivitamin, you are just throwing your money down the drain, at best, and doing actual harm at worst.
So, maybe that explains why you thought you had absorption problems - although it could very well be that you have low stomach acid making absorption difficult.
As for vitamin C, I'm talking about 1000 mg with every iron pill. You'd have to eat a lot of oranges to get that much!
Although it's never mentioned in lists of hypo symptoms, I'm pretty sure that an aversion to meat has something to do with low thyroid.
But, do get them tested first. Nutrients will only help if you need them. And with some things, taking too much can be dangerous. Establish what you need before supplementing.
Will do. Partner is often prescribed iron and vit D. I’ll share this with him as he uses the multi vitamin and then needs a prescription again before long and this could shed light as to why!
