On a recent medichecks test it's transpired that my zinc levels are ABOVE range:
19.76umol/L (range 10.7 - 17.5)
This is the first time I have ever had my Zinc levels checked so no way of knowing how long this has been the case but it's very odd since I do not supplement with zinc at all and from what I've read it's more common to not consume enough (rather than too much) through diet alone. It also transpires that zinc competes with copper and from what I can gather, an excess of zinc could very well mean I have a copper deficiency. I intend to take this up with my doctor at an appt next week ...not sure if they test copper on the nhs? Anyone know?
Can anyone point me to resources around the importance of copper (in relation to the thyroid and in general)??
I feel like this could be a major breakthrough, since looking at the symptoms of copper deficiency, it describes pretty much every issue I've had for the past decade including the crappy thyroid and other deficiencies.
Any insight or personal experiences of copper deficiency out there would be be good to hear too.
Thanks in advance!
