Any recommendations for companies that sell zinc and copper tests?

Last year I did a Blue Horizon which included zinc and copper. I need to re test as these were off but BH no longer provides this test. I’ve found this and wondered if anyone has used this company. £75 seems suspiciously good

Thanks

Would prefer to use the same company for both tests

that does look good doesn’t it, shame it doesn’t include selenium. I haven’t used them before so can’t say for sure, and I was lucky the gp ordered my last zinc as it had been under on a private test that was £20 just for zinc and took forever to come back. That was an odd service, just someone outsourcing to eurofins lab. 🌱

My zinc is just into the bottom of the normal range. First supplement did nothing so doubled it with a different one and it finally started moving. I should test again soon. I am back to 1 a day now.

Was it low because as is typical with hypos, it often is

Yes below range when I tested privately, and again when GP tested (because she thought I was taking too much… ) was still below range then too, it took a few months of 50mg and it crept into bottom of range, I now take 25mg a day and will retest next round 👍

See this thread :

I asked about the company a few weeks ago because it offered several tests that interested me. Having said that - I still haven't used them myself.

They offer zinc and copper testing as well as "zinc/copper ratio", although I don't know what use that third one has.

Thank you humanbean, I’ll probably use medicinesonline. I found they have a number to send messages to and I’ve had a couple of replies. Feel satisfied that they’re a decent company

I sent you a pm re iron tests because I think you missed the tag. Have you seen it

That was the company I used for minerals testing and orry to say I wouldn;t recommend them. Out of 5 things they were mean to test they only tested 2. Results took a long time to come back and eventually I asked for and got my money back.

Another member had a similar experience with them.

Hi humanbean

I posted this a couple of days ago and no one could say so helvella suggested I tag you but you must’ve missed it

Which is better/more useful:

Monitor my health

Ferritin

Transferrin saturation

Haemoglobin

Blue horizon

Ferritin

Transferrin saturation

Total iron binding

Iron

Thanks, hope you don’t mind

Haemoglobin is helpful and when it is below range it tells you if you are anaemic. I've often thought it would be good if iron panels included it. But the MMH test, which includes haemoglobin, doesn't include serum iron. And on the basis that people can become iron deficient long before they become anaemic, I would go for the Blue Horizon test which does include iron.

I usually buy the Medichecks test when the company has one of its 20% off sales :

I like it because it includes CRP along with the usual iron-related levels, and CRP can affect ferritin.

Thank you humanbean that was helpful

I ordered the BH one this evening and was delighted to find that I’d accrued enough points for a £10 discount!
