hello I have posted several times in the past year regarding my blood test results which point to secondary hypothyroidism as confirmed by you wonderful people in here but NOT by my doctors.
To cut a long story short I was going to see a private endocrinologist but sadly a death in March has put my health on the back burner.
I pushed for my doctors to retest my bloods which they did but as per usual they didn't test the full thyroid panel or other levels they only tested the results shown below.
tsh 0.856
t4 8.8
ferritin 17
I asked for the ranges she was arsey and said there was no range shown.
the last range was tsh 0.34 to 5.6
t4 8.2 to 18
ferritin 15 to 200
I know I'm in range just but it was my t3 that was below level last time.
any help please ?? thanks

Is it a T4 test or a FT4 test? You really need to get private testing now if your GP’s refuse to do it! Yes it could possible be secondary but really you need to start building up a full thyroid history if you’re to get anywhere with treatment.
All these results point to Central Hypothyroidism which was mentioned in replies to your previous post so you are still in the same position and you need referring to a thyroid specialist (not an endo who is a diabetes specialist).
thank you.. I just wanted reassurance with my gp saying all results good no further action. I've got 2 names of endocrinologists that specialise in thyroid and endocrine matters so that's my way forward I know some are just as dismissive as doctors but it's worth a try ..tjank you
Hi I was diagnosed with Central Hypothyroidism five years ago by a private endocrinologist, but my GP would not accept the diagnosis. A second opinion in 2018 also confirmed Central Hypothyroidism this time from an NHS doctor but as a private patient, my GP still failed to accept diagnosis. As Central Hypothyroidism is rare affecting 1:120,000 people GP’s don’t see it enough to understand the condition and the TSH test that they rely on is uninterruptible in Central Hypothyroidism which completely throws them into a state of confusion. My advice to you would be to contact the Pituitary Foundation and ask which hospital near you has a special pituitary unit. I have now been referred to Sheffield but it has taken five years to get to this stage. It is essential that you see an endocrinologist who specialises in pituitary disorders.
Central hypothyroidism is where the problem lies with the pituitary (Secondary Hypothyroidism) or the Hypothalamus (Tertiary Hypothyroidism) rather than a problem with the thyroid gland itself (Primary Hypothyroidism). Central hypothyroidism is indicated by a low, normal or slightly elevated TSH with a very low/below range FT4.
thank you it's just a joke isn't it..4 tests all show low and every time one level is below range but oh no you're fine ...sheffield is ok for me I'm in Lancaster could you pm your private doctors details I am going to get booked in I can't be feeling like this physically and being treated like a liar and hypochondriac by my doctors.
they want to put me on statins as my cholesterol is high but I told them it's a side effect of secondary hypothyroidism along with my borderline bottom range of ferritin folate b12 but they won't have it . thank you
Ask your GP what is good about a result being below the reference range. If he says something along the lines about it being "only a bit below" then ask why are there ranges if they're going to be ignored.
when I asked that last time they said ranges are only a guide we're all different and levels vary day to day. because I'm not overweight and I'm walking and talking not crawling in on all fours they say oh it not your thyroid it's just an age or menopause thing stop worrying and inventing illnesses!!! that's not just one doctor that's 4 of them it's shocking
