I am currently taking 50mcg of Levothyroxine and 15mcg Liothyronine daily.

As my last blood test results showed a suppressed TSH, a below range T4, a rock bottom in range T3 and a borderline HbA1c levl. I am still symptomatic on this does and my main concern is being overweight and finding weight loss extremely difficult. Both of parents were similarly overweight during their middle age (I'm in my 50's) and both have become Diabetic.

Please see below my latest blood test results & ranges;

Serum free T3 3.9 pmol/L (3.50 - 6.50pmol/L) Low in Range

Serum free T4 6.7 pmol/L (9.50 - 22.00pmol/L) Below Range

Serum TSH level 0.14 mU/L (0.10 - 4.00mU/L) In Range

HbA1c Levl - IFCC standardised 36 mmol/mol <41.00mmol/mol

Incredibly the receptionist said these were "Normal" and the print out says "No Action"

Please let me know your thoughts on these results.

Your TSH and FT4 are low because you are taking T3. Your FT3 is low because you're not taking enough T3. It would probably be a good idea to increase both levo and T3 - although not at the same time. But, as doctors know so little about thyroid, I can see that they would think these results are ok. You would need to go and see your doctor and talk it over with him. :)

You're welcome. :)

If you're going to increase the levo, I would strongly suggest you only increase by 25 mcg every six weeks. But, if I were you, I'd get that FT3 higher first, because you're obviously a poor converter or you wouldn't be on T3, would you?

Your just woefully undermedicated. 😉 Id increase the T4 to get that up to at least midrange. You’re probably going to need to at least double the dose of not getting up to 125. How sensitive are you to changes? I only ask because if it were me I’d be adding 25mcg every 2/3wks. Then blood test Then look at the T3.

How come you’re on both? 50mcg of Levo is only a starter dose.

I was on 125mcg of Levothyroxine at one time, but as I don't convert it into T3 very well, my T3 was very, very low on that dose. They then added 10mcg of T3 and reduced the Levo... Eventually got to my present dose of 50mcg Lego and 20mcg of T3.

Yep, sounds familiar. I was the same. As you do convert some I’d probably still try and increase Levo first and see if it makes any difference. I’m on 125/150 plus 20 T3. My FT4 is 16 and my FT3 is 4.8 but with that score I upped my dose from 15 to 20 so I’ll see in a few weeks time if it gives my FT3 a little boost. I was feeling really well but just had some constipation and painful periods but the small increase has worked.

Not what you're looking for?
