Could someone help with an iron query, I am hypothyroid and low B12. Do my blood tests seem ok or are they on the low side?

We need reference ranges, please, to be able to interpret your test results.

However, your ferritin and % saturation aren't low.

You should be able to see for yourself if the others reach the optimal levels mentioned here

SeasideSusie no reference range with serum iron levels :0( it's just I feel like how I felt when I was iron anaemic, my hair is stilling falling out madly too. I took a Solgar gentle iron about 2 hours before bed and I slept all through the night....unheard of....normally I am up 2 or 3 times in the night....I must get folate checked as well as I have been injecting B12 daily...

You need a full blood count to see if you have iron deficiency anaemia, MCV, MCHC will show that.

If you're using B12 supplements then a B complex is needed to balance all the B vitamins.

Hi SeasideSusie I have high MCV MCHC and MCH I am injecting B12 daily, I have neurological damage. I also take a B complex and extra folate. Being undermedicated on levothyroxine for 20 years...10 years at 25mcg and 10 years at 50 mcg. Now on 100 mcg and my TSH levels look a lot better at 1.33. I also have very low morning cortisol 137 and low throughout the day just scrapes in at normal evening and nighttime.

High MCH suggests folate/B12 anaemia.

[Low MCV would suggest iron deficiency anaemia, so as yours is high, and ferritin is good, you probably don't have anything to worry about there.)

It sounds are though your hypothyroidism has been very poorly treated and probably done a lot of damage.

Your TSH isn't too bad, what your your FT4/FT3 levels? When on Levo only, the aim of a treated hypo patient generally is for TSH to be 1 or lower with FT4 and FT3 in the upper part of their ranges if that is where you feel well.

If you have low cortisol all day then it needs addressing (adrenal problem possibly caused by undertreatment of hypothyroidism and your thyroid has been struggling for years). Did you do a 24 hour saliva test, the one with cortisol plus DHEA?

Not what you're looking for?
