I am hypo currently being treated on combination of T4/T3. Understand if iron levels are out that thyroid meds do not work efficiently.
Have read how important it is to have a full iron blood test done - Serum iron, complete blood count, total iron binding capacity, transferrin saturation and serum ferritin.
What is the best test to have done which covers all the above? The tests I keep finding covers Iron, TIBC, Transferrin and Ferritin. Does that cover Serum iron, complete blood count, total iron binding capacity, transferrin saturation and serum ferritin?
Is that a fully comprehensive test to have done?
Look forward to your replies?
Many thanks

I have ordered test for Iron deficiency, am currently taking Biocare Iron complex which contains 14mg of iron, Ashwaganda, Holy Basil, Vit B complex, Selenium, Zinc and Iodine. Should I stop using it before I have blood test done
Leave off the iron for a week and leave off the B Complex for 3-5 days. B Complex can affect any blood test not just thyroid tests. The others just don't take before the test on the day.
I'm wondering why you're taking Iodine. Did you test and found to be deficient?
I have been seeing Dr Bernard Willis in Winchester since November 2017, he is a holistic practitioner who specialises in Thyroid, adrenals and CFS. He has put me on a very low dose of Iodizyme-HP containing Iodine 2500 and 3700 iodine as potassium salt (don't have funny sign on my laptop, looks like an upside down h and a g!!!). I only take half a tablet a day. He did full thyroid panel, adrenal glands and sex hormones.
It a very contentious subject. Hypothyroidism can be caused by Iodine deficiency but if you're not deficient and take Iodine it can make it worse, particularly if you have Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease).
