I suffer from Scleroderma Sjogrens Syndrome and Heart and lung disease. My hair is very fine and see through with a few bald patches. My scalp gets very itchy and very dry. I have tried lots of different shampoos antidandruff and anti fungal but still I have the problem. What did work for a while was Ginger shampoo and Conditioner but now that doesn't work? I use oilatum emollient for my dry skin. I am now trying oilatum on my scalp I massage it gently into my scalp and leave it on all night. I have a slight improvement.

I need a good wig can anyone recommend a good Uk supplier please?

Hi, I am sorry to hear of the pain you are experiencing with your scalp. Unfortunately I am not an expert in this area but there is a shop close to me that does very good quality wigs and have been going a very long time and are reputable. I will leave the link for you.

All the best x

Thank you very much for your help! I have decided to shave remaining hair off and use a wig for going out. I think it will be a lot easer to keep my scalp hydrated this way. I'm a bit scared but determined to try it. Thanks again for your help.x

Hi. I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing this. I lost my hair a year ago due to alopecia and found making the decision to wear a wig very, very difficult. However, once I actually got one I felt SO much better. I visited a trendco shop (the one I went to is in London but there are a few) and highly recommend booking an appointment and telling them it is your first wig. They spent a really long time with me in a private room trying various styles and price points. I took a friend with me for second opinions and a boozey lunch afterwards!!! At first I found the wigs uncomfortable after about an hour but I now hardly even notice that I’m wearing one. Good Luck!!

Can’t help with a wig but once you find one I do know there are a lot of hairdressers who are ‘wig cutting stylists’, who specialise in customising wigs to suit you, so go online, google for wig stylists and find one near you. So possibly you could do things in reverse and ask at one of those hairdressers for recommendations. trendco.co.uk/testimonials

I have a Raquael Welch wig which cost less than £100. I wear it in a bad hair day and am always complemented on it. A few women have asked where I go for my hair doing lol x

Nice one, there are something amazing wigs out there, I was in a club with someone and when I said how lovely her hair was she whispered that it was a wig. I was absolutely astonished.

Long time ago when I was a young mother I actually had a friend (?) who said ‘ I don’t know how it is but even when you’ve been to the hairdresser you still look like you’ve come through a hedge backwards’! It may well have been true but the nerve of her.

Hi Edith , i have hypothyroidism and Sjögrens. I went through a flare which effected my scalp , it was painful and irritated , it became so bad I couldn’t put my head to the pillow . I did some research and found black seed oil, I rubbed this into my scalp at night and after a week there was a great improvement. The problem has now gone and has been clear for a year but I still keep the oil handy . I have also thinning hair which started 10 years ago with the thyroid problem and got worse with the treatment im on for Sjögrens , unfortunately i have no suggestions to help it .

Hi Edith, I get my wigs from Natural Image. First I went to a local wig shop to be sized up (I have to wear a petite) and after buying there for a couple of times, I now shop online for the same wig. I have been wearing wigs for about 4 years. I still have hair, but it is very thin on top (and getting worse) and the hair is now like wire wool. I put a smear of coconut oil on in the morning before I comb it. I cannot wait to put my wig on in the morning as it is my 'best friend'. Yes it is scary to walk out in it for the first time, but fortunately I had a couple of very positive comments, so it gave me the confidence. Someone came up to me in the supermarket the other day and asked who my hairdresser was! I will be 75 this year and wearing the wig certainly makes me feel and look younger. Not sure how old you are, but why should the young ones have all the fun! Hope you get sorted soon. Best wishes.
