Trying to get diagnosed

I'm new to all this thyroid dysfunction business. My Dr told me all my test results are normal but when I looked at the results I noticed that the TGabs are high. My vitamin D was fine. I'm heterozygous with the MTHFR gene mutation. Just throwing that out there in case it has anything to do with anything.

Please does anyone have any advice or can you tell me if it's truly normal to have elevated thyroglobulin antibodies? Thanks in advance.

Here are my latest blood test results.

Sept. 2018

TSH 0.916 reference range (0.45-4.5 uIU/mL)

Triiodothyronine (T3) 111 reference range (71-180 ng/dL)

T4, Free, (Direct) 1.57 reference range (0.82-1.77 ng/dL)

Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) Ab 22 reference range (0 - 34 IU/mL)

Thyroglobulin Antibody 4.9 reference range (0.0 - 0.9 IU/mL)

Getting folate, ferritin and B12 tested is your next step

As advised in previous posts.

Come back with new post once you have results and ranges

Low vitamins need correcting first. Then TSH may rise and hypothyroidism recognised by medics

Hi,just come across your post,I hope your feeling better? I like you have been feeling horrible, chronic fatigue, weak, dizziness sore scalloped tongue, anxiety and just a feeling of unwellness,my thyroid all normal but high tgab I’ve been so worried and having a scan of thyroid in Saturday, did you also have a scan? What is the outcome of your high tgab? I’m starting gluten free and dairy but it’s so hard finding all the free foods! But I’m trying ! I’m wondering if I should take some selenium? But it that safe as I’ve heard you have to be careful when taking it? X

I have been taking 200 mcg of selenium and 1,000 mcg of iodine per day along with a range of other vitamins. Selenium is considered safe but you have to be careful about the iodine.

I also discovered I'm compound heterozygous MTHFR so I'm taking methylfolate and a good methylated B complex.

All these things together and I've started feeling much better. I'd like to do another thyroid test in a few months to see if my tgab numbers have come down.U

Thanks so much for your reply, great il have to get some of the selenium can I ask where you got it form please? It’s a worry isn’t it all of it, and to think I wouldn’t never have even known about about the antibodies tests if it was not for social media groups that talk about them! I wouldn’t have been so worried if both antibodies were raised as I know that’s Hashimotos it’s just the one Tgb thsst worried me! But il get some selenium work hard on the gluten free also! X

I am in the USA so I ordered selenium from Amazon, the Life Extension brand.

It is a puzzle, yes. For myself I'm not too worried. I had Epstein Barr a number of years ago and I'm thinking that virus is provoking the attack on my thyroid. I'm confident that if I reduce inflammation and take the right supplements I can reverse it or at least make so I feel well enough to function.

Check out the medi cal medium, I don't necessarily believe in everything he says but he does provide a lot of info and good advice. Good luck. Keep us posted about what your scan shows
