My test results have 5 sections

1) Procedure 2) Result 3) Abnormal 4) Range 5) Units

It reads:

THYROID PROFILE

1) Procedure: Thyroglobulin Autoantibodies (Anti-TG)

Reference Range: <41 IU/mL

2) Result: <20

3) Abnormal: (blank, nothing)

4) Range: <41

5) Units: IU/mL

1) Procedure: Thyroid Peroxidase Autoantibodies (Anti-TPO)

2) Result: 39

3) Abnormal: (blank, nothing)

4) Range: <61

5) Units: U/mL

1) Procedure: Thyroglobulin (TG)

2) Result: 13.00

3) Abnormal: (blank, nothing)

4) Range: <55

5) Units: ng/mL

........ I just need some help understanding what this all means. I can't find any references online which describe what a "normal" range of results is, or what numbers would indicate a problem, and what the problem is. Any help deciphering these results is greatly appreciated.

Duckinabearsuit, Your results are not positive for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's). For example, your anti Tg results is <20 and the ref range is <41. A positive result would be expressed as 70 <41.

In the case of each of the three tests, your results show that you are below the range ie if your levels were over the figures given, that would indicate antibodies indicative of an autoimmune disorder. So for instance, the first result would be expected to be below 41, and in fact you were less than that at below 20.

Duckinabearsuit,

If the colour YELLOW is confusing, it is an ORANGE box on the new version of the site!

You might get even more useful answers if you gave us a bit more information.

The tests you posted are not the ordinary "does this person have a thyroid disorder?" tests. They are more "does this person have an autoimmune thyroid disorder?"

Are these the only tests you have had? Are you on any treatment?

Also, we do not usually see results presented like that, so I wonder if you are not in the UK?
