Hi everyone, I have now lost two toe nails. Is this a symptom of hashi. Diagnosed in April this year on 100 levo. TSH 0.20 T4 19. I take b12 D3 K2 biotin slippery elm, s boulardii, zinc, betaine HCl, tumeric, selenium, magnesium, l glutamin. Should I visit the doctor or is it a waste of time?

It's certainly a symptom of a fungal nail infection so I would see the Doctor 🙂

If you ever finding yourself watching YouTube videos on toenail cutting/problems (!!!) you'll see that the majority of nails lifting up or coming off completely seems to be caused by damage, such as stubbing the toe, dropping something on it, too tight shoes etc; and/or fungus. However psoriasis, excema and poor blood flow are also possible causes.

As Fibrolinda says, it's a symptom of fungal nail infection. Have those two nails had signs of this? In the summer, when you see more people in sandals and bare feet, it's amazing how many you see that have this infection and I often wonder if they realise.

Images here so you can see if yours were like this:

Even if you don't think it's this, losing two toe nails is certainly worth a visit to the doctor in my opinion.

My finger nails came away from their beds when I was untreated. First down the sides. Didn't notice my toes, probably too worried about my hair which was also falling out...

Hi, I lost both my big toenails 2yrs ago . They came away from the nail bed. Luckily enough new ones had formed underneath.

Since then they both grew in-growing . I had a partial removal of both toenails to resolve this.

If I grow them too long they still lift slightly from the nail bed.

I had them checked for fungal nail infection and none present.

I believe it to be connected to my thyroid. I have a fluctuating thyroid and take 100mg levothyroxine .I also have ‘Me’ and Fibromyalgia.

My Chiropodist told me it was quite common in relation to the thyroid.

Just one of the many things it affects.

Thank you for your time and experience. Will pop off to the doctors where I seem to live these days!

I lost a toe nail before I was treated, it went on for years and I gained a lot of weight but was told I couldn’t be treated as I was ‘borderline’. When I was eventually treated I lost weight and my toe nail grew back
