My latest blood test results - is everything now normal?

I was newly diagnosed as Hashi's in January/February this year (blood results previously posted) but not put on any medication because my TSH after a second test became in range.

The only problem then was my deficient Vitamin D3 which has now been corrected with a prescription from the GP of Invita 3 Colecalcifrol x 1600 IU per day, which I topped up with BetterYou oral spray D3/K2 x 2000 daily. I have also been taking supplements of Vitamin K2 Mk7, Magnesium Citrate, Selenium, B12 .

I have another appointment with my GP at the end of this month, but my latest blood test result below does shows an improvement and I doubt if she will put me on any thyroid medication now. Apart from brain fog, which I put down to age and occasional upper leg aches, I am not feeling too bad.

Unfortunately she did not test for the other supplements and minerals as the blood test was only supposed to be one a year but I convinced her after 6 months I should see whether things are any better or worse.

Should I carry on as I have been doing? Or do I need to get the other tests done privately?

Did you do this test as early as possible in morning? This gives highest TSH

You need B12, folate and ferritin tested as these are often low with Hashimoto's

Your TSH is on the high side and FT4 low, but both in range, so GP would be reluctant to treat at moment

Your TPO antibodies have dropped quite a lot, which is good.

This may be linked to improving vitamin D levels

As you have Hashimoto's, are you on strictly gluten free diet? If not you might consider trying it

According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)

Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies

Ideally ask GP for coeliac blood test first

Thank you so much for your reply SD. My bloods were taken at 8.15 am and fasting beforehand so should be correct.

I will ask my GP if I can have B12, ferritin and folate tested when I see her at the end of the month..And also for Coeliac. I will also then try gluten free diet.

As you said she is not likely to medicate me since all are in range, although could do with improving.

Hopefully she will arrange for the aforementioned to be tested. Otherwise I will have them tested privately.
