To answer your question I would say yes. You haven't revealed much so it's hard to expand on that. It would be good to know if you have Hashimoto's or if you are taking any hormone. Your FT4 is not terribly low but without knowing what you are on.....
Your digestive process makes B vitamins using your gut bacteria. You are very low in B vitamins so you should supplement asap. There are cofactors you need and your pituitary is calling for more thyroid since your TSH is higher than it should be. Under 2.0 is better.
Thank you so much for your reply... yes I am on the prostap injection and also take progesterone & oestrogen . I have just started B injections privately this week as my doctor said just eat some greens you’ll be okay lol... thank you for the link aswell... I have seen a lot of people have gone to see Dr Peatfield, but I can’t seem to find a contact number for him, would you suggest I see him? Xx
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.
All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)
If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).
About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's. Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances too, especially gluten. So it's important to get tested.
Dr Peatfield is unwell and not available
Suggest you email Dionne at Thyroid Uk for list of recommended thyroid specialists
Maxin, well, he wasn't completely wrong but to get nutrients from your food (if it still has some and that is debatable) consider using Betaine HCL which will break down those amino acids and minerals and if your gall bladder is sluggish consider digestive enzymes but take at different meals than the HCL. If you can afford organic it is well worth it. I think you can taste the difference.
More info on B12 deficiency on Pernicious Anaemia Forum on HU. I'm not medically trained but know from personal experience that it is possible to show signs of severe B12 deficiency with an in range B12 result.
Thank you so much for all that info, I started to get private B12 injections which take the edge off a little, no haven’t had ferritin or Vit D but had full blood count x
Good advice above, I would like to add that if I had a TSH of 4.0 miU/L I would be flat on my back in a coma. So my answer is yes, that figure alone is a reason you are feeling drained and confused, I begin to feel weird at 1.0 miU/L.
