Advice please on tests results after first 3 months on T3.

Hi Folks,

My problem seems to be converting T4 to T3.

I'm three months into taking 25mcg T3 each day, plus 2 x 500 mg metformin plus various vitamin supplements. Before taking any T3 I had reverseT3 of 28. Free T3 3.1Free Thyroxine 13.3.Total T4 82.7 TSH 2.69.

DIO 2 test showed inherited faulty gene from both parents.

I've been feeling that there is an improvement but still having lots of hypo symptoms. Should I increase my T3 to perhaps 50 mcgs a day? I haven't experienced any heart palpitations and have gone up to 37.5 for one week after the test results below were taken.

Have also included Medicheck doctor notes.

More useful would be advice from our forum experts! Any thoughts most welcome.

We are pleased to report that all your results for your thyroid profile are within the normal ranges. Your thyroid hormones are normal as are your thyroid antibodies revealing no evidence of autoimmune thyroid disease.

Your free thyroxine is borderline low however with a normal thyroid stimulating hormone, total thyroxine and t3 this is unlikely to be clinically significant.

You have high levels of vitamin B12, if you are taking a B12 supplement then I recommend decreasing your dose.

You have normal levels of folate.

Your vitamin D level is normal but towards the higher end. Look to stop/reduce your dose for 3-4 months.

Your CRP level is normal, indicating normal levels of inflammation in the body.

Your ferritin level is normal.

Can I ask, were you already on T4 from the GP? Your levels before starting seem similar to mine although my FT4 was a bit lower. GP won’t help so considering my options right now.

Hi Cupcake girl, sadly my GP just ran TSH test and said it was normal, at that point it was around 3.9 so I knew from this forum that I would have to go privately. Initially went to doc off TUK list but not satisfactory so when I was on holiday in Hong Kong I visited a doctor there. she put me on 25mcg T3 and Metaformin. But now I’m home getting meds from Hong Kong v difficult although much cheaper than UK.

Really want to know from folks whether I should increase T3 dosage.

Please post your latest blood test results on a new post including the ranges, so that you will have a response to you alone.

Your TSH is still a bit high. When taking T3 you can add 1/4 tablet every two weeks until you feel much better. Take pulse/temp and if either go too high, drop to previous dose.

Thanks, I’ve got a Fitbit type thing to track heartbeats but can’t find a reliable thermometer, but I’m always cold! Will increase my dose of T3 in easy stages.
