Some advice on supplements please

Scrolling through these posts I've noticed most of you are taking vit D and other supplements. I do eat a lot of dairy and have been refused a vit D test by most docs except for one, and it was too low, out of range on fact. Should I push for another test, and what other vitamins or else should be checked please?

What was the Vit D result, also please say if unit of measurement is NMOL/L or NG/ML.

Other important tests are

B12

Folate

Ferritin

And if Ferritin is low you will need

Full blood count

Iron panel

The doc didn't give me the actual reading and they charge £2.50 for a print out of each result or I can ask the ditsy receptionists, she just said the vit D barely registered. To my knowledge, none of the other vitamins or minerals were tested. I'll get a test thanks for the help.

Rob dogs! How can they justify that sort of charge, I'd be taking my own paper in and offering 10p for the ink used!

You could ask to look at the computer screen and take a photo. Don't let the receptionist give you a verbal or hand written result without checking it is completely accurate.

Too right! I had an HbA1C and TFT recently and she said the whole print out would be £10, it's cheaper to ask for my whole medical records. The receptionists are a laugh a minute at interpreting results, but they're still better informed than my GP haha. Why they don't get a qualified medical secretary in the job to save GPs' time is a mystery.
