I think you are undermedicated. Most people taking NDT + T3 need FT3 5.5 - 6.8 to feel well. Ask your doctor to increase either NDT or T3 dose.
Ferritin and folate are optimal halfway through range so they're fine. You can raise ferritin by eating more iron rich foods, liver once a week is good.
B12 is high as expected with weekly injections.
VitD is optimal 100-150 so you may want to reduce dose to 3,000iu to maintain level.
Thanks for your advice, I'm just back from seeing Endo, and he has increased the T3 by 10 gm.
Said to carry on taking my Armour 2.25 grains with the 10 g T3 in the morning, and take the second dose of T3 prior to lunch as I've been feeling tired by late afternoon.
I wondered if I should phase in the extra T3 dose or just increase straight off?
Re: Ferritin, I'm veggie but eat fish, although for health I've been thinking about now eating Beef. As I've been veggie for 25 years I wonder if I have the enzymes in my gut to digest meat, given our gut digestion is not always good.
Think I will cut back on Vit D, especially as lab will only test infrequently.
I wonder if Armour is as potent as it once was, I know my Endo doesn't like it because he says the batches vary in strength.
On another point I've heard that more is needed in the Winter months and I understand in Europe this is common practice.
I'd time the second dose about 90 minutes before your afternoon slump. 10mcg T3 isn't a large dose so it's fine to take it without building up to 10mcg.
Armour shouldn't vary in potency any more than any other meds as it is listed in the US national formulary.
Some people do require more thyroid replacement during the winter but it isn't common practice to adjust dose although those self-medicating may choose to do so.
I've no idea whether reintroducing meet is likely to cause problems. There are meatless iron rich foods.
Thanks will try doing that with the afternoon dose of T3.
Out of interest what is considered a high dose of T3?
Funny thing the Endo wasn't convinced I needed more T3!!
I had to persuade him that it was having a benefit.
And get him to give me another 10mg
Given that my T3 has only gone up by 0.60 in over the last 2 months, I wonder if an extra 10mg of T3 will be enough to get to the higher level of the range?
