Have you been diagnosed Hypothyroid and on Levothyroxine? If not what has your GP said about your results?

Your high antibodies confirm autoimmune thyroiditis aka Hashimoto's which is where antibodies attack the thyroid and gradually destroy it. You can help reduce antibodies by adopting a strict gluten free diet and supplementing with selenium L-selenomethionine 200mcg.

Your vitamins and minerals are dire, what has your GP said?

You can learn to interpret your own blood results - by looking at 1. the result 2. the Range which are the numbers in the brackets. For example - TSH 6.9 (0.2 - 4.2) shows that your TSH thyroid blood result is 6.9 and it should be between 0.2 and 4.2. So all these results are either totally out of the desired range, or very near the bottom.

Your antibodies are very high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's

are you on Levothyroxine? Or not diagnosed/started yet?

Hashimoto's affects the gut and leads to low stomach acid and then low vitamin levels

Low vitamin levels affect Thyroid hormone working

Clearly your vitamin levels are terrible.

Please say what GP has prescribed for each low vitamin

If not been prescribed anything yet, make urgent appointment with any GP at practice for Monday

Typical low vitamin levels due to under medication and detailed advice on supplements

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Look up your local CCG guidelines for vitamin D deficiency

Eg Oxfordshire

oxfordshireccg.nhs.uk/profe...

Poor gut function can lead leaky gut (literally holes in gut wall) this can cause food intolerances. Most common by far is gluten

According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)

But don't be surprised that GP or endo never mention gut, gluten or low vitamins. Hashimoto's is very poorly understood

Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies

Ask GP for coeliac blood test first

Yes, what has your GP said?

You have very serious vitamin deficiencies as a result of your autoimmune thyroid disease.

What has GP prescribed for vitamin D, ferritin and folate deficiencies

Your ferritin, folate and especially vitamin D are extremely low.

B12 is not quite as low but you still need test for Pernicious Anaemia before starting folic acid supplements for low folate

Ask GP for coeliac test too

All the vitamins need supplementing, alongside starting on Levothyroxine

You need to learn as much much possible about Hashimoto's

Make an appointment to see your GP

Very heavy periods are a symptom of hypothyroidism and will make ferritin very low
