Thyroxine allergy??

Hi all, quick overview - was on WP thyroid NDT for three years and decided to go back to synthetic because of various symptoms (I now know they had me way undermedicated on NDT) and tried T4 only. Body didn't like it and I got breathing issues which landed me in A&E (they fobbed me off saying it was anxiety). Switched back to NDT and body gradually calmed down and breathing went back to normal. I wasn't sure if it was a low thyroid thing.

Went to see a private endo who recommended going back onto T4/T3 which I've been on before. Took a while to get the T3 sent from Germany. Started on them yesterday and today the breathing issues are back. My dosage is pretty much like for like compared to what I was on with NDT so I don't think it would be a dosage/low levels issues especially this quickly. Again, I don't think it can be B12 or iron or anything like that cus it happened quickly and I take supplements.

So, am I allergic to something in the meds?? Has the breathing issue happened to anyone else? I was on T4/T3 in the past and this didn't happen. They're different tablets to what I had before but then the T4 I've been on since 2004 has caused me stomach issues from the start.

I just want a med I can stick to and feel fine on!! I was feeling okay on the NDT except for my body just not feeling good and struggling with anxiety and depression but perhaps that's just cus I've been eating terribly this year, under a ton of stress and being undermedicated for a couple of years can't have done me much good.

Brighter84,

Different brands of T4 and T3 have different fillers which can affect absorption or can cause allergic reactions. If you have tried different brands of T4 and T3 you may have allergies to some of the ingredients in synthetic T4 and T3. If your endo won't prescribe NDT you can buy it online and self medicate.
